Dear @Bonobos: You haven't paid @squarespace for the site you use to block visitors from outside the US. Maybe just stop doing that? codecookread.com/dont-block-…
ALT Safari window showing bonobos.com in the address bar, Website Expired prominently, and the Squarespace logo at the bottom right. Less prominent text: "This account has expired. If you are the site owner, click below to login." and a button "Owner Login".
Response to API feedback at #makewithnotion: “Noted.” Not: let’s see if X is here from our API or developer relations team. Not: here’s how to file a feature request or here’s our roadmap. Very strange.
Yegor is someone we really want to welcome with open arms. It's a tragedy that he's worried about being able to stay and contribute. We can and should do better.
I’ve never shared my immigration story—until now
I lost the H1-B lottery in 2017 and was 'kicked out' of the US
I crawled my way back in 2022 after getting into Stanford, Harvard, MIT, etc.
I hope Trump allows me and other AI talent to stay this time
My journey to America:
- 2007: Dropped out of 8th grade in Spain. Taught myself coding and built a B2B ecommerce business that hit $500K revenue to pay for my mom's cancer treatments
- 2010: Lost my mom at 18. With no high school degree, European universities shut their doors
- 2011: America stepped in.🦅🇺🇸 I aced the SAT, got a GED, skipped 5 years of school, and moved to the US to enroll in college
- 2016: Graduated college Summa Cum Laude & a Olympic Weightlifting National Champion. I was living the American Dream
- 2017: Worked at DHL in Miami (Americas HQ), leveraging my fluency in 4 languages. They sponsored my H1-B—but I lost the lottery
- 2018: DHL relocated me to Global HQ in Germany
- 2021: Applied to Stanford, Harvard, MIT, Columbia, Penn, and Dartmouth... thinking I'd be lucky to get an offer from one of them. I got into *all* of them
- 2022: I moved back to the US to start at Stanford
America owes me nothing, but I owe America everything

Dear Indie Developers:
If you have just one minute, I'd be delighted if you'd take this very brief survey:

Congratulations @[email protected] on 30 years of @[email protected]. What an accomplishment! My favorite Rhode Island product by far, even more so than coffee syrup. Great work, Rich and team. barebones.com/
Could stubbing one’s toe badly generate enough immune response to reduce swelling in one’s knees? A friend off social media recovered 50-80% in 9 months from a knee injury yet went from 80-97% the day after they stubbed their toe. Forwarding to med followers welcome.
Problem: Messages for macOS has a numbered badge but you can’t find any unread messages.
Solution: Choose View -> Unread Messages then switch back to View -> All Messages, and that will clear the badge.
Shout out to Rocket, one of my favorite podcasts 🎙️.
Hosts @film_girl@[email protected], @[email protected], and @doomquasar put on a great show.
The segments on scammers are a delight.
Best of all, this episode is sponsored by ... micro.codecookread.com/2023/…
It’s a bit of a bummer that there’s no “Report Junk” button in Messages on macOS. Can do on the iPhone. Would also be handy on the Mac.
The Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovich centers on Black protagonist Peter Grant and includes both novel and graphic novel formats. Additional Black female protagonist Abigail Kamara, Peter’s cousin, debuts in book 4 of the novels.
Darn! Can’t use @TextExpander to handle accented names when writing my holiday cards. ⛄
