El emotivo tráiler de DRAWQUARIUM:
Un juego indie de arte donde dibujas y crías a los peces que nacieron de tu imaginación.

excellent take
Replying to @ArtFacility
Why are we even arguing around this? Programming is creative problem solving, even if it isn’t art.
It’s personal labor and intellectual property. The person who engineered a solution deserves to benefit financially if a sizable portion of their intellectual contribution is used by some business. Pay people for their work.
Art is not to be protected from AI just because it’s art. That’s just circular thinking some artists might participate in.
Art like any profession should be protected alongside programmers because both used their minds to create something, and both deserve to profit from the fruits of their labor.
AI steals that labor without compensation and then seeks to undercut the very people it was trained on without permission.
This is different from tutorials and open source gifts to community members. Tutorials and open source were made with the understanding of a mutually beneficial exchange. The teachers pass knowledge to create good practices and create a community of competent professionals that might one day work besides them. Open source contributors gift their labor to fellow programmers under a similar social contract.
AI companies have no such interest in this contract. They want to become the sole suppliers/gatekeepers of labor and knowledge work by making cheap automation replacements for labor. The intention is to steal from the people you plan to replace. There is no real end goal of collaboration or growing a professional community.
This is no different than the current firms buying up individual medical practices and then establishing themselves as the only viable source of employment and labor supply of medical practitioners. The cost of medical services never goes down; they just shift whatever the medical workers were earning to the executive class.
That’s the end goal here and instead of artists and programmers being dumb and arguing over which job is special or has inherent dignity/social value, they should band together and push against this takeover of labor from the executive class.
I came across a Reddit post that described AI in a way I can’t stop thinking about:
“AI allows the wealthy to access skills while stripping skilled people of their ability to access wealth.”
I don’t think I’ve ever seen the purpose of AI captured so brutally and accurately.

Forza Europeans!
Only 200,000 signatures needed to push EU institutions to suspend the indecent partnership agreement with Apartheid Israel. Bcs it is not OK to make business with a State that commits intl crimes on a daily basis.
Power to the People.
Together #weR1
Almost 800.000 signatures: “EU citizens cannot tolerate that the EU maintains an agreement that contributes to legitimize and finance a State that commits crimes against humanity and war crimes.
Full suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement.” eci.ec.europa.eu/055/public/…

10 years ago today @thatgamecompany released #Journey. I was the art director. It set the course of my career and my art. I'm forever thankful to the community of players and their incredible love for the game. This is a thread comparing early dev images and how things shipped.

The joke goes: An expert game designer is 20x more effective than a newbie. They are correct 20% of the time instead of 1%.
Why are game designers wrong 80% of the time? 🧵

Games do this with choices. They allow people to experience outcomes that they would not have otherwise had the energy, time or physical universe to perform them in. This is why making games about interesting choices is so imperative. They can present possible futures.
Kids, if anyone ever questions your "computer art" please point them to what 95 year old #VeraMolnar has to say.

please share your most embarrassing game dev crimes. Mine: all the scripting in Gone Home is contained in 2 gigantic uScript graphs, bc I didn't know about interlinking many smaller graphs at the time. It's only 2 bc the first one started running too slow to navigate. Your turn.
