do you think Dario gets this, or is the level of empathy there non-existent and machines of loving grace is what you get for breakfast whether you like it or not
this feels like a markets problem, not a openai is going to solve it for you by you renting inference all the time from them problem
sam: local inference is a terrible allocation of scarce resources
“a lot of people want local inference, and somehow they assume that the problem is solved now because we have open-source models, we're going to be able to run them on our computers, and so we're not going to need all the stuff in the data centre
but from a global allocation perspective, actually it's quite terrible to have everybody, like, have a bunch of the world's limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer and being used five percent of the time
you want maximum utilisation in the cloud if you're trying to deal with this very supply-constrained environment
somehow many people's intuition is the opposite of that”
will they give away the solution to quantum gravity or keep it for themselves?

Jokes aside, in reading this and evaluating its exploit and math capabilities, it's clear the AI labs will increasingly be keeping future models for themselves in service of solving problems in foundational physics, materials, and biology, and selectively monetizing that IP. What's the PV of a company that has line of sight on solving physics' most difficult problems? Anthropic will trade at $5tn in 2026 and $10tn in 2027.
Is there a private, multiplayer place for humans and agents to collaborate in the agentic miasma we’re all swimming in?
Yes, says the competition. It’s called Tlon.
I say this in jest. The red hat + Linux model makes a ton of sense for @NousResearch and will strengthen Hermes considerably
1. make a local harness empowering the masses 2. Raise $90mm 3. Pivot to enterprise 4. Let them eat cake
Replying to @iAmHenryMascot
We aren't giving up on consumers. But they are dumb and I never made hermes for that purpose. I made hermes agent as a coding harness for me. That's why the CLI came out first, and then remote gateway channels, and then, our first actual move toward consumer with the desktop app.
If anything, the mobile app means we are going way harder on consumers.
I am not leading the mobile app, and I dont even lead the desktop app.
My focus is and always has been on making hermes the **best** agent. Not an agent ux for normies.
MoA is not for normies. 1000's of subagents is not for normies. The intense work we've done to improve terminal and coding capabilities of hermes is not for normies.
It has always been this way, and anyone who thought otherwise was mistaken.
the creator of XMTP uses slack?
we are rapidly shuttling towards reality becoming the plot of hyperion
Grateful that @elizabethjdias of @nytimes wrote this piece on how Anthropic thinks about their model, software consciousness, & the model's role vis-a-vis religion. If you are doing business with this company (customer/partner), evaluating it (press), or regulating it (government), it is important to know how "they" think about their models and what they are doing. It's very different from any software company that ever existed.
Judge for yourself what you think about this approach, but be aware and informed.

1/ In your hosted bot settings, can now run Zero Data Retention models (ZDR for short) in Tlon Messenger. The agent reads your message, writes the reply, and lets it go. No copy kept by the model provider.
You own your prompts, context, and memory on your node forever.
ZDR through a token router + all your prompts, private to you, owned by you, on your own server
release notes for Native Apps v9.5.1
+ Adds a toggle to use model providers through OpenRouter who advertise zero-data retention policies. You can toggle these on in "bot settings".
+ Revamped look and feel throughout.
+ Adds guided onboarding for first-time users to set up a recurring digest, daily learning series, or ongoing research prompt.
+ Fixes a critical issue with reconnecting to a user's personal server after ~30 days of inactivity
+ Quite a few other minor UX fixes

for the first time in history, the consumer internet zeitgeist is shifting toward privacy and ownership, led my none other than the moms.

1/ Your agent can now publish to the open web from Tlon Messenger.
The page is served by your own server. No platform (ie Substack, GitHub, Medium etc) sits between you and your readers.
All publishing a note to the web from Tlon Messenger takes is pressing a toggle.
The page lives on a server you own. Here's how:

see, only the small unimaginative minds will ask these questions. you want whitepapers? cmon, it's the singularity, no one has time for that. if you don't buy into the insider group signaling their support for the wunderkids making physics breakthroughs, you're just a salty washed chopped unc who is gatekeeping the kids from valhalla. agartha. whatever. keep up. just watch the video and appreciate this new gpt3 moment.
apparently watching fable create a threejs physics engine thru playtesting is more entertaining than going outside
