This is a very subtle issue which also intersects with a broader Western belief in the power of right vs. wrong word choice but....I really hope people let go of -iv/-ov name policing wrt the conflict in Ukraine. Most of the places getting destroyed are Russian speaking.

I can understand it a lot better than native speakers, which I'm guessing means there's at least a noticeable Russian accent.
