I see this issue with my family reunion now. my grandmother and her siblings have always just made it happen— putting their resources together for the venue, food, drinks, fireworks, etc. now that my generation and my dad’s generation are of age, everyone gets confused when it’s time to ask for money. too many people are surprised by the work/money that our elders have contributed to our joy and memories as kids.
