Replying to @HSBC
@HSBC launches a stablecoin to 3.3M users, @OpenTrade appoints former Swift CEO Lázaro Campos as Chairman, and Visa explores stablecoin remittances in the Philippines. Here are the most important developments in Digital Assets, Stablecoins, and RWAs 👇 1. HSBC launches RedCoin, a Hong Kong dollar stablecoin, to 3.3M PayMe users @HSBC’s first stablecoin is rolling out to more than 3.3 million PayMe users, who can send it instantly and pay over 100,000 merchants. HSBC plans to let customers use it for tokenized investments, including its Hong Kong dollar money market fund. A bank stablecoin launched with a ready-made distribution network. 2. BlackRock and SBI explore linking tokenized money market funds to a yen stablecoin SBI Holdings and Startale signed an MOU with @BlackRock to explore connecting tokenized money market funds with JPYSC, a yen stablecoin. No live product exists yet. Tokenized funds and stablecoins keep converging, well beyond the dollar. 3. OpenTrade appoints former Swift CEO Lázaro Campos as Chairman Lázaro Campos, former CEO of SWIFT, has joined OpenTrade as Chairman. OpenTrade has processed more than $1B in transaction volume over the past 12 months and now has $300M in TVL. The former head of the network banks use to move money now chairs a stablecoin yield company. 4. Visa explores stablecoin remittances in the Philippines, where 38% trust them @Visa is exploring stablecoin money transfers in the Philippines, where remittances were equal to 7.3% of GDP in 2025. Its survey found 58% of Filipinos had never heard of stablecoins, but 40% want to learn more. Awareness is the gap to close. 5. Canada opens a 60-day consultation on stablecoin rules Canada’s draft rules would require non-bank issuers to hold 1:1 reserves, redeem within three business days, and stop paying interest to holders. Comments close December 23, with rules targeted for fall 2027. Canada is following the U.S. template closely. 6. Polygon brings Open Money Stack to Solana @0xPolygon has extended its payments platform to Solana, letting businesses accept funds, hold them as stablecoins, and pay out to bank accounts, cards, or wallets. Fees and availability haven’t been disclosed. Onramps and offramps are where chains now compete for payments businesses.

18 years ago today, Satoshi Nakamoto published nine pages proposing value that could move without a middleman. Stablecoins, tokenized assets, banks issuing their own tokens. All of it traces back to that paper. Happy Bitcoin Whitepaper Day.

I’m delighted to announce that Lazaro Campos, former CEO of SWIFT, has joined @opentrade_io as Chair of our Board. Lázaro has spent 35 years building and governing the infrastructure global finance runs on. At @swiftcommunity he led a full strategic and financial transformation of a network serving 10,000 financial institutions across 210 countries, and network volumes nearly doubled under his leadership. He has also sat on the Bank of England’s RTGS/CHAPS Board and the board of @StarlingBank, and he chairs @Payoneer Europe today. Stablecoins are becoming one of the rails global finance runs on, and the businesses building on them expect the same resilience and trust they get from the traditional system. Lázaro has spent his career setting that standard. He joins as we move from early growth to scale. Over the past 12 months we’ve processed more than $1B in transaction volume, we now have $300M in total value locked. Having Lázaro as Chair for this next phase says a lot about what this team has built. Welcome, Lázaro. We are thrilled to have you with us!

Strong update from @SierraIsMoney, SIERRA’s yield on Avalanche is up to 7.16%. The lift comes from expanding the reserve strategy into institutional trade finance via TradeFlow’s Obligate eNotes (Swiss DLT securities). These provide short-term, uncorrelated yield from the multi-trillion global trade finance market: TradeFlow takes ownership of non-perishable commodities in transit, with pre-booked buyers, seller collateral, marine insurance, and no traditional loans to limit credit risk. Historically 8-9% returns, capped at 15% of the portfolio for liquidity, and fully transparent on their dashboard. This is the kind of high quality RWA infrastructure that’s making Avalanche a clear leader for institutional onchain finance. Diversified real-world yield, with permissionless access without lockups, and built for scale.
The yield of SIERRA on @avax has increased to 7.16% over the past 30 days Learn more about SIERRA's allocation to Trade Finance here: blog.sierra.money/blog/reser…

1/ How are your assets protected in an OpenTrade yield vault? Every OpenTrade vault is built on institutional structures. Collateral is held by a bankruptcy-remote SPV in secured accounts with Tier 1 custodians, kept separate from OpenTrade and from other clients. The collateral backing your balance is verified weekly and published, so you can see what's there at any time.

WHERE DOES THE NEXT WAVE OF AI VALUE COME FROM? The AI story is no longer just about who builds the most powerful foundational model. The bigger question for investors is what happens next—and where value ultimately accrues as AI becomes embedded across the broader economy. In this conversation, Samantha connects several important pieces of that picture: the potential Anthropic IPO, the possibility of capital recycling back into private markets, growing enterprise adoption of AI, the position of incumbent software companies, and the wave of acquisitions that could emerge as the market continues to mature. That’s where thesis-driven investing becomes critical. It’s not simply about reacting to what’s happening in the market today. It’s about developing a point of view on where technology, capital and customer behavior are heading—and then identifying the companies positioned to benefit from those shifts. As AI adoption accelerates, the opportunity set may expand far beyond the foundational models themselves. Existing software companies will have to determine how AI fits into their products and business models. Enterprises will continue deciding where AI can create measurable value. And larger companies may increasingly look to acquisitions as a way to accelerate their AI capabilities. The question for investors becomes: Where will the next layer of durable value be created—and who is positioned to capture it? 🎙️ Samantha breaks down the investment thesis and what she’s watching as the next phase of AI takes shape on the latest episode of Money Moves. 🎧 Listen to the full episode wherever you get your podcasts, and watch the full conversation on YouTube. 🎙️ Spotify: open.spotify.com/show/1cgewM… 🍎 Apple Podcasts: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas… ▶️ YouTube: youtu.be/_M7ARJxe40g Listen.
