Can Anbil Mahesh come out scot-free after throwing Arasakumar under the bus?
Arasakumar is a DMK functionary and the first accused in the private schools scam. Investigators say he collected large sums (estimates put at around ₹100 crore) from private school managements by promising permanent recognition, school upgrades, DTCP/CMDA approvals and other clearances, using his political connections.
Anbil Mahesh is trying to pin the entire ₹100-crore scam on him. During the bail hearing, his side claimed Arasakumar collected the money by lying to school managements about bribing officials and politicians.
Convenient.
Arasakumar is already in the case. But Anbil was the School Education Minister when all this happened. The Madras High Court denied him anticipatory bail specifically because it felt custodial interrogation was needed to trace where the money actually went. He was arrested the same day.
Blaming the association president does not automatically clear the minister who held the portfolio. Police have already traced over ₹17 crore from 177+ schools. The full trail is still under investigation.
If Anbil walks free after pointing fingers at Arasakumar, it will set a very interesting precedent. One man collects, the other was the minister, and only one takes the blame.
The investigation will decide. Not the narrative in court!
