Gutted. Thaer al-Rahal was one of 750 migrants who boarded a trawler & ended up in one of the Mediterranean's deadliest shipwrecks. He needed to get to Europe to earn money to save his 4 yr old Khalid, who has leukemia & needs a bone marrow transplant. Thaer did not survive. 💔
So impressed at the healthy plant based options @BritSocHaem including vegan friendly desserts. What a refreshing surprise #BSH2023 – at Birmingham, England

How many of us knew the inventor of tranexamic acid? A drug that was included in the WHO list of essential medicines.
We are indebted to such women.
@GodierAnne thank you for an info packed, inspiring plenary
#ISTH2022 @4womeninscience
Inspiring plenary lecture by Anne Godier reminding us of how far we have come but also the work that is still needed to overcome the harrowing statistic - 1 woman dies every 7 minutes from post partum haemorrhage #ISTH2022

This is just depressing.... <5% of women with HMB get investigated for bleeding disorders😩
Such a missed opportunity, UKHCDO working to provide guidance on improving awareness of BD in gynaecology

Vital discussion of heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) at #ISTH2022. Women continue to believe their family history of HMB is acceptable. We need quicker consideration of an inherited bleeding disorder in such families. These talks are invaluable

Was at a bar alone yesterday when the bartender said, “Hey, check out this text from my sister!” He showed me his phone and it said, “Do not, under any circumstances, get into a conversation with the guy sitting on your right.” Men, if you are in a position to do this, DO THIS.

Folic acid doesn’t prevent 100% of cases, it was warned as a risk if not taken & a lack does not cause this type of spina bifida.
Any doctor that has had a patient refuse investigation/treatment despite warning of risk (even 20 years ago), could be this dr. #IAmPhilipMitchell

Our inquiry heard that awareness of #sicklecell among healthcare professionals is low and that there is routine failure to comply with national care standards around pain relief when patients attend A&E. sicklecellsociety.org/no-one… #NoOnesListening @redcellemma
Argh! Yet another pt’s VTE initially dismissed because no “textbook”symptoms & signs.
Please! VTE can be difficult to recognise
- most DVT have no signs - no swelling & change in colour
Usual symptom is just muscle pain
- consider PE in those with unexplained chest symptoms

I teach for several hours during a day in a mask. Comfort is secondary to protection & also setting an example to my students. I would expect ministers and MPs to do the same. theguardian.com/politics/202…

My favourite clinical trial!
CHOP v multiagent more intensive & toxic regimens
Aggressive NHL
All as good as eachother
This trial has saved many many pts from unnecessary toxicity, TRM & cost.
More is not always better.
