This guy is a great example of falling massively hard for the base rate fallacy. 90% of all homicides are committed by men. Those that involve sexual assault, 95%+. When women do commit homicide, it's 4x more likely to be against a man than another woman. Now consider...
OK, let’s let it all fly. Let’s do an Amanda Knox thread. The tl;dr is not going to be “I’m 100% sure she’s guilty”, though I think that’s the most likely scenario.

Any accounting of this case has to take all this into account. Occam's razor here is very clear. Extraordinarily clear evidence against one person; extraordinarily low prior probability against the other suspects whose guilt would require defying physics.

This is the signal. All the other evidence is noise. Though if you actually examine all that other evidence, any things pointing to Amanda's guilt also fall apart under scrutiny. In short, this case is better than the LSAT for separating the rational people from the loons.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that she's an extraordinary person who has received an endless torrent of unjustified hate her entire adult life. You do know shes a dedicated advocate for the wrongly convicted...
imagine anyone else who was wrongfully convicted got even a fraction of the understanding this woman has had for the last decade. america has people detained indefinitely with no trial in guantanamo bay and yet we have to constantly be like “wow amanda knox went through so much”

Anyone who does work freeing the wrongly convicted celebrates Amanda because they know she's a vital part of the movement. And if you think she receives undue "understanding" go read the comments on any YouTube video about her. Millions of people still call her a killer.

I challenge you to actually engage w/ Amanda's work instead of judging her from afar. Read her latest book. See if you still feel so little empathy for a person so deserving of empathy. You probably won't @KindaHagi. That would require genuine curiosity about another human.

They put her on trial for 8 years. As recently as this year she was still facing wrongful charges in Italy. Like it or not, none of that is about Meredith and yet it is a story worth telling. Meredith's story was over when Rudy Guede murdered her. Sad but true.

And then a new & much bigger & more complicated story began. That story is about the authorities going after the wrong people, and it's worth telling. Just like the horrors of trench warfare and WWI is a story worth telling that really has nothing to do with Archduke Ferdinand.

Yesterday I was down in Olympia with @larzar of the @WAinnocence project and fellow exoneree Ted Bradford to testify in support of HB 1138, which will discourage police from lying to suspects during interrogations by making any evidence obtained through deceptoin inadmissible.
