Agreed. I long for the internet where having your own site and making a living off of it was laughable and we all just did it for the love of the game

dead profession these days. Making money off google adsense isn't nearly as lucrative or appealing as it once was
I'd love for it to make a comeback though

to be fair to you, that was the first thought I had too, then I blinked, and it made more sense lol

figured I'd try it again a couple years later, and it was even harder to sit through just the opening. Boring, uninspired, filled with bored people desperately trying to come up with anything of substance to say at all, delivered with the bored drawl of the truly uninspired

I remember years ago wondering why h3's channel was just tumbleweeds and found out about the pod. Curious I popped on a random episode and turned it off about 20-ish minutes in. It was so hard to sit through this under-yet-over-produced smodcast knockoff filled with real nobodies
I miss the days of the common knowledge to not use your real name, use aliases and throwaway email addresses... anonymity was the default.
it got bad when people started making money off it.
Social Media and Google Centralization then ruined everything else about it
This whole h3 Ethan and Hila Klein thing has been stuck in my head
I wish Hila and the kids nothing but health, wealth, and happiness; and I wish Ethan to reap what he sewed
But, like…
Through thick and thin, if there was ever a YouTube couple that would stick together…

Jon’s doing just fine tho
Its pretty wild to think how much of the modern internet’s life has been dominated by Trump-era politics
The flash browser plugin was still heavily used
Facebook was just exiting its virtual pet phase
Being a blogger was still a viable profession
We just wrapped up #bendgate
