Headliners Formal Sppeedwear are a 3 piece from Stoke who play a bass heavy funk mix that owe a lot to Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, Keith Levene, and Carlos Alomar. An awesome 60 minute set.

Can highly recommend the Ghosts film. So good to be in a full cinema of people, of all ages, all laughing out loud. Maintains the Ghosts TV quality and extends it to 97 minutes. What's not to like? youtu.be/iLKGXt5JHKk

Out tonight at Chalk Brighton to see Cabaret Voltaire and Gazelle Twin. Another nostalgia trip, I can't remember where and when I last saw the Cabs. Possibly Leeds Warehouse, possibly the Hacienda. Wherever it was it was sometime in the 1980s.

Headliners Cabaret Voltaire played an 80 minute set of their greatest hits. A great farewell to an innovative band who's early recordings still sound like the future nearly 50 years later.

Postie just arrived with the latest Tooth single "Take me as I am". So good to see the Parlophone label and logo again. Takes me back to playing my parents old albums when I was a kid.

Out tonight at Green Door Store, Brighton to see Makeshift Art Bar supported by Nerves and Stratford Rise. First up were Belfast based four piece Stratford Rise who sound like a cross between Captain Beefheart and Black Midi.

Headliners were Belfast's Makeshift Art Bar. A mix of electronica, screaming vocals and scratchy guitars. It ticked all of the boxes. One of the best performances I've seen all year.

Out at the Wicker preview at the Everyman. Just the average tale of girl marries wicker boy and makes the village jealous. It's weird, it's funny, and it's very good. Go see it. youtu.be/JH25LjG7R7k
