Bill C-39 puts foreign investorsâ profits ahead of workersâ rights, environmental protections and Indigenous rights. Canadaâs top scientists warn it will cause irreversible harm. So why are the Liberals limiting scrutiny instead of giving this bill the thorough review it demands?

Jeff Daniels says Jack Nicholson told him on his first day of Terms of Endearment that film is not Broadway, and that is why he shows up ready on take one
"He said, what have you done?"
"And he said, well, this ain't Broadway."
"This is the pro game."
"I just came in ready to serve the story, not you."
Daniels was 28 with one movie behind him, and Nicholson sized him up in a sentence. Plenty of young actors would hear that as a put-down and sulk about it. He heard it as the job description and has been working that way for more than forty years.
Truer words were never spoke. đ

The Vanishing Country is back. For decades, Mel Hurtig warned us what would happen if we sold out to the United States. He was right.
Now, his essential book is out in an abridged edition for Canadaâs latest existential struggle with the Yankee menace.

BC election data shows 52% of voters stayed home.
Global data shows all things being equal proportional elections have higher turnout than systems built solely on single-winner-ridings, because proportional representation means everyone feels they have a voice.

You can't blame this loss on Green 'vote splitting'
1. The BC NDP called the early election, so that's 100% on them
2. The Greens support Proportional Representation, so they actually want to fix this system
3. The ONLY vote splits in recent memory were right-wing Liberals splitting the vote in 2011 Federally, and in 2018-2024 Ontario.
4. The BC CON win was so big, even a collapsed Green vote wouldn't have mattered.
The left doesn't split votes: Liberals do, and moderates are the ones who elect right-wing governments.

Two of the biggest fuckups in Canadian political history all in the last few weeks
First the CAQ gets wiped out after breaking an electoral reform promise that would have saved their party
Then Dave Eby called an unnecessary election that pissed off an entire province instantly

Precisely. At moments like this, when we see an elected leader try to un-engineer something that blew up in their face & for which they were complicit & a contributing factor, it's imp we remember they aren't deities & they can be manipulative & we shouldn't return them to power.
