The Cod Moratorium was more than a moment in NL history. It changed lives, families, and communities across our province. A story close to home, and one we’re proud to tell. ❤️ Catch the latest episode of Son of A Critch Tuesdays on CBC

TONIGHT: the fifth and finak season premiere of Son of a Critch brings out the hot dog in young Mark (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth). Great to have this show back after a long break between seasons. My review here: brioux.tv/blog/2026/09/08/to…

The small town of Gander in the Canadian province of Newfoundland saw its population virtually double when U.S. airspace was closed on 9/11, grounding 38 international flights on an island in the Atlantic Ocean. For five days, Newfoundlanders gave shelter and comfort to 7,000 stranded passengers and crew members. @conorknighton talks with Newfoundlanders who volunteered during the emergency, whose generosity to the "plane people" inspired the Broadway musical @wecomefromaway.

Mark Critch has been making his life flash before his eyes for half a decade now – and though it hasn’t quite driven the long-time This Hour has 22 Minutes satirist mad, it’s occasionally brought him to the brink. Son of a Critch, the CBC show inspired by his Newfoundland youth, which he produces, writes and acts on, begins its fifth and final season on Sept. 8. Behind the scenes, however, Son of a Critch was more of an avant-garde, auto-fictional art project – think Synecdoche, New York but a sitcom. At least that’s what comes to mind listening to Critch, 52, over lunch as he tries to untangle memories from the hall of mirrors he’s created. theglobeandmail.com/culture/…
