"Kids don't care about school anymore, look at how bad the scores are." Why would they? Why should they? Did we care about their health? No, we sent them to school to catch Covid over and over. Did we care about their future? No, we wrecked the planet and allowed those who came before us to do it guilt free while we pretended nothing was wrong. Did we care about making life easier on them? No, we allowed a minority of greedy billionaires to make it so that the entire system is set up for the few rich, while everyone else pays the bill for society to function. We continued the trend of voting for parties that have sworn complete allegiance to corporations, the rich, and capitalism. Did we care to show the kids of today that we were willing to change for their tomorrow? Hell no, instead we allowed racism, bigotry, fascism, sexism, and the rest of the bullshit of the past to stick around long enough to become acceptable again. We allowed that by worrying too much about riding our moral high horses than dealing with the problem. And after all of these failures, at their expense, you expect kids to give a shit about school? You expect them to listen to the bullshit rules that are put in place to make them into drones like us? Kids are smart, they know we don’t give a damn, if we did we wouldn’t do this to them and expect them to pretend everything is fine. Don’t be surprised that kids “don’t care about school” while we infect them with Covid, wreck their planet, cultivate hate, allow unchecked greed, and make it so they have a harder life than any of us ever did. They have no obligation to care, we didn’t.
