Solidarity and thanks to @EdinburghGreens MSP Kate Nevins, @labourlewis, @nickdearden75, @SamTarry and @larabirdsnp who tried to get into the West Bank from Jordan to help with the olive harvest today, but were turned back by Israeli soldiers.
I have been detained by Israeli security forces all day. Along with with MPs @labourlewis, @larabirdsnp, MSP Kate Nevans, former MP @SamTarry and campaigners from across the world, we were turned back because they don’t want anyone seeing their ethnic cleansing.

The BBC’s Middle East correspondent frames the Israeli elections as Netanyahu against “leftist” and “centrist” figures like Eisenkot, whom she describes as “softly spoken” and “lowkey”.
What she leaves out is that he’s a former general and the architect of the Dahiyeh Doctrine, which calls for disproportionate force and deliberate targeting of civilians and their infrastructure.
In what world is that left wing?

I've been revisiting @UKLabour's 2024 manifesto, and some of the commitments are extraordinary given where we are today...
- Defend the international rule of law.
- Uphold international law in Gaza.
- Recognise Palestinian statehood as an inalienable right.
- Reject new oil and gas exploration because it worsens the climate crisis.
These weren't demands from protesters.
THEY WERE LABOUR'S OWN PROMISES!
The government shouldn't need reminding what the principles are. It already wrote them down and commited to them!
The question is why those principles become negotiable the moment defending them carries a political cost.

Mike Tapp: 'Zionism isn't ethnic cleansing!'
Shehab Khan: 'So why can a Jewish guy in London get Israeli citizenship but a displaced Palestinian can't?'
Mike Tapp: '...I didn't know that. That doesn't sound equal to me.'
The absolute intellectual collapse. He spent whole time defending the ideology, only to admit he doesn't know how it actually works on the ground

I'm fond of Miatta but this isn't good.
The Labour Party is forcing her to back policies she clearly does not support.
We don't do that in the Greens. I'm never asked to lie. When someone asks me a question, I tell them what I think.
Today I made what was meant to be a light-hearted self-deprecating remark. I didn’t get it right and it hasn’t come off as I intended.
I fully support our Home Secretary and the government’s position on migration reform.
As I said earlier this week, it’s absolutely right that people should have to make a contribution to this country in order to earn citizenship.

.@TheGreenParty conference motion demands Israel is replaced by a single Palestinian state
This is NOT the policy of Palestinian leaders such as Marwan Barghouti. They support a two-state solution. Greens should not tell Palestinians what to do! Amend the motion!

Absolutely horrifying. How can our government be planning to drill for new oil and gas when we know these are the consequences?
We have to keep the pressure on this Labour govt to keep all fossil fuels in the ground and secure a safe future for our children and grandchildren.
Viktor Orbán would use 'puppet master', 'money speculators' and 'international Jewry' tropes towards George Soros and celebrated a WWII Leader that deported an enormous number of Jews to their deaths. Minimised Holocaust complicity.
He maintained a great relationship with BiBi.

🧵UK media has been duped about net-zero (again)
The playbook is identical:
1️⃣ Find a big scary number
2️⃣ Speed-dial non-specialist hacks
3️⃣ Do say “serious economic damage”
4️⃣ Don’t say “we pretended gas is free”
5️⃣ That's it!
Many papers still fell for it 🤷
Reform confirming a hierarchy of marriage. British straight people first. Gays below them. Mixed marriage couples and migrant couples below them. Single people below them.
It's actually been my experience, in my family, that kids were better off with their parents separated.
British married couples would get priority for social housing, says Reform UK deputy leader Richard Tice, but he was unclear where same-sex married couples would be on that list.
"As long as we're building plenty of homes, then there will be sufficient room for them."

There are many reasons why @TheGreenParty should have zero to do with 5Pillars, even if they choose to support our candidates. The Taliban is opposed to all of our values as a party. That's something I shouldn't need to say.
As we approach five years since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan, we asked 5Pillars readers and viewers for their thoughts on the country five years on.
96% said they believe the Taliban have overall done a good job and that Afghanistan is in a better place now than before.
Just 4% believe things were better under NATO occupation and that the Taliban have failed.

What happens in Westminster, affects the whole of London. The impact of their draft planning rules on mandating table service in bars, no standing up to order or drink, would ruin Soho and the West End. And the callousness of attacking soup kitchens and the homeless is standard.
100 days of @westminstertory control in @CityWestminster:
- More restrictions on Soho nightlife
- A moratorium on pro-Palestine marches
- A soup kitchen threatened with closure
- A 160m projected budget gap
Westminster deserves better.
The main story is of course that the investigation into Farage's £5m undeclared donation will continue. But there's now this sub-story of Reform not wanting to cooperate with police on matters of security and terrorism because they don't trust them. – at Romford, London
