Not only have they mapped out the fruit fly brain, but they actually boot it up in a computer and made it “eat” and “groom” 🤯
We are releasing a whole-brain connectome of the fruit fly, including ~130k annotated neurons and tens of millions of typed synapses!

What is #privacyengineering? Is 2023 the year of the #privacy engineer?
Awesome keynote by @PrivacyMaverick @enterprivacy @IOPD_Official at #iwpe @IEEEEUROSP
💡 privacy engineering encompasses many domains
💡 always reflect: do the controls/PETs actually tackle the risk?

Victor Morel discusses automated privacy decisions. #iwpe @IEEEEUROSP
💡 it takes 15min a day to manually reject privacy permissions
❗️some permissions require manual decisions but create usability overhead
❗️some can be partially automated (full automation not recommended)

Almost a decade and a half after the arrival of blockchain, we still haven’t seen a convincing product come out of that community. People are still building platforms, not products. Some technologies never generate products.

That has been tried before - albeit with insufficient results. We now 1) propose a human-in-the-loop approach integrating NLP-based suggestions and human annotations and 2) find that SBERT produces significantly better results than previous approaches arxiv.org/abs/2305.15006
