In the early 1960s, Raquel Welch worked as a cocktail server in the Bon Vivant Club at the former Cabana Motor Hotel on Stemmons, where she was discovered, so the story goes. At the same time she was modeling for Neiman-Marcus.

I was looking for something VERY unrelated in the @dallasnews archives (family stuff, if you must know), only to discover that there was once a very major thoroughfare in Dallas called Ukraine. First reference I could find was from 1933; removed by the city in 1952. Had no idea.
