Did you know that Jeff Masemola was the longest-serving political prisoner on Robben Island (surpassing Mandela's years specifically on the island). He was released on October 15, 1989. Nelson Mandela served a total of 27 years across Robben Island, Pollsmoor Prison, and Victor Verster Prison, before being released on February 11, 1990.

Ncumisa Selani killed her two boyfriends and 17-year-old son, burying them together in her backyard.
In 2016, after learning she was HIV-positive, she blamed her Malawian boyfriend and persuaded her Zimbabwean boyfriend to help kill him.
They buried him in her yard. In 2017, she and her son killed the Zimbabwean boyfriend, whom she said was abusive, and buried him on top of the first man.
In 2018, she killed her son and buried him above the two men, reportedly because he used drugs and threatened to expose their secrets unless she gave him money.

Two men have been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Polokwane High Court for the gruesome murder of a 43-year-old man, whose body was dismembered, burned and dumped along a gravel road in the Waterberg District, Limpopo.
The accused, Gareth Alexander Potgieter (38) and Wynand Carel Steyn (38), were found guilty of murdering Venter and defeating the ends of justice.
The victim was reported missing at Northam Police Station on 20 August 2021. However, it was only in July 2022 that information confirming his murder emerged, revealing the horrific circumstances surrounding his death.

The 2026 Local Government Elections results process is progressing, with 5% of votes counted nationally.
According to the IEC's live results dashboard:
🔹 1,198 of 23,696 voting districts have been completed.
🔹 25 of 4,485 wards have been completed.
🔹 25 of 8,825 council seats have been allocated.
🔹 0 of 213 municipalities have been completed.
The counting, capturing and verification of results continue across the country as the Electoral Commission works towards finalising the election results.
