Tonight we spoke with my SIL Debbie about suicide prevention. Tomorrow will be 5 yrs since we lost Ethan at 16. The work she is doing in his memory is so powerful. She and Rich are a testament to making meaningful change in their community. #iteachmath #SuicidePrevention

I used this task in class yesterday with 5th graders. There was struggle and confusion. Conclusion: provide more opportunities for confusion and teach what to do when your confused. Highly recommend! #thinkingclassroom @ddmeyer

Just a reminder that there is overwhelming research showing homework does little to improve achievement and can actually have negative effects. Recess however has many positive effects such as improved self regulation of emotions, improved interpersonal skills and focus!

When teachers say they don’t want to “add” trauma informed approaches or ABAR strategies, bc they want to “just teach” their content area, with all due respect: they’re wrong. This is not an add on. IT IS THE HOW. And it’s how teaching should have always been.
