Some dudes took over a ranch in Texas and are trying to turn it into a manufacturing mecca. We took our cameras and spent a couple of days there. I went upside down in a plane and did a study of Texan cults. It's glorious.

There's no such thing as a universal 7. We proved it with 1.18 million photo ratings in the last month at @KeeperAI. Some reviewers approve just 2% of the photos they see. Others approve 65%. A 7 to one person is easily a 5 or an 8 to another.
Physical attraction is the biggest reason for initial rejection in dating, and no one's measuring it well. Ever wonder why Tinder and Hinge show you so many profiles you'd never swipe right on?
Our whole promise at @KeeperAI is that we don't waste your time with bad matches. To deliver on that, we needed to understand attraction at scale. LLMs can guess at an average attractiveness score (although they still suck at this), but that's only so helpful.
What we needed was data on what real people actually think when they see a photo. Just the photo, before any profile data can influence the reaction.
So we built a photo rating tool to collect exactly that.
The data confirmed what we suspected: predicting what's generally attractive is a very different problem from predicting what a specific person will find attractive.
Bonus: upload your photos and see your personal scores so you know which ones to use on your dating profiles. Vote on a few other people's photos to unlock yours, or skip the line: testmyphotos.com

The biggest lie modern dating culture has sold us is the idea that almost every relationship problem can be fixed with "better communication."
The brutal, highly unpopular reality is that most failing couples do not have a communication problem. You are communicating perfectly. You are stating your needs clearly, and they are hearing you loud and clear. The issue is that you are fundamentally incompatible, and you are using "we need to communicate better" as an absolute coping mechanism to avoid looking at the truth.
We drag out dead-end relationships for years by convincing ourselves that if we just find the perfect combination of words, our partner will finally change their core values to match ours. But no amount of healthy communication can bridge the gap between two people who just want completely different lives. Understanding each other isn't the same as agreeing with each other

For most of history, mate selection wasn't this open-ended personal project. It was constrained by family, geography, religion, class, social pressure. The pool was small, criteria were clear, and timeline was short. You didn't spend a decade 'finding your person.' You chose from a narrow set of viable options and moved forward and figured it out.
Modern dating removed all of those contraints.
Now the pool is enormous and the criteria are ambiguous and timeline is indefinite. So people keep searching and searching. They keep optimizing. They keep wondering if someone better is one swipe away.
That's where the psychic energy goes.

There's a fruit fly walking around right now that was never born.
@eonsys just released a video where they took a real fly's connectome — the wiring diagram of its brain — and simulated it. Dropped it into a virtual body. It started walking. Grooming. Feeding. Doing what flies do.
Nobody taught it to walk. No training data, no gradient descent toward fly-like behavior. This is the opposite of how AI works. They rebuilt the mind from the inside, neuron by neuron, and behavior just... emerged. It's the first time a biological organism has been recreated not by modeling what it does, but by modeling what it is.
A human brain is 6 OOM more neurons. That's a scaling problem, something we've gotten very good at solving. So what happens when we have a working copy of the human mind?

there's one thing i always bet on. it's that everyone sucks. the absolute lack of talent in the world will shock you. what is obvious to you hasn't been done because people suck. it is a constant. no one has any skills whatsoever. you are on a different planet entirely

Fun fact: In cat world being the one that grooms the other one means they're The Boss.
In bunny world it's the other way round - the one being groomed is The Boss.
So they both are thinking they're the boss.
