Jack Grealish is talented, big-hearted, incredibly likeable but he’s 31, unwanted by his main employer, has now let down his loan club and risks letting his career drift. It’s sad to see. At his best, with the ball at his feet, Grealish is a true entertainer, always trying to make things happen in the final third with his balance, dazzling footwork and sense of adventure. He’s generous off the field, helping many causes, the latest a £10,000 donation to a Southport family whose Evertonian dad has cancer.
Grealish is genuine. But all these uplifting elements to his personality and playing ability are overshadowed if there’s not total dedication to his demanding profession. That’s time-keeping, refuelling correctly etc. Grealish risks wasting his talent, a special talent.
Whatever the nature and scale of the disciplinary breach at Everton, reportedly missing training, Grealish has let down a manager in David Moyes who gave him a chance and is short of players anyway. Grealish has an ability to keep possession under pressure that Everton usually could do with but they beat Newcastle United without him to reach the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup. He's let down team-mates and fans.
Do Everton need Grealish? Left wing, now left out. His replacement, Tyrique George is a completely different player, quick but raw. George is developing under Moyes (and Lee Carsley with England Under-21s) and an experienced manager clearly feels he can trust him more. George is 20 with his best days ahead of him. Grealish should be doing everything to prove his best days aren’t behind him. He should be fighting hard to keep Father Time and young challengers at bay.
Grealish, as he showed last season before injury, could have a significant role to play, could bring some magic to Everton’s flanks, but he’s wasting that chance. He should look at the whole-hearted performances of the likes of Jordan Pickford, James Tarkowski, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and James Garner and want to be part of these band of brothers. Look at the way Hayden Hackney has been assimilated into a strong dressing-room - and impressed last night. There are good people around the club if Grealish needs help in any way.
So what next? Grealish will be costing Everton a lot in their share of his Manchester City wages. Pictures from Finch Farm training will be eagerly awaited as will any involvement in Monday’s Premier League visit to St James’ Park.
So where will Grealish go next? He did brilliantly getting Aston Villa into the Premier League, and did the Treble at City. He’s achieved much but could achieve more with that talent. His City contract expires next summer. He’s stuck on 39 England caps, and won’t feature even on the fringes of the conversation when Thomas Tuchel announces his squad next week. He’s now at a crossroads. Let’s hope likeable, gifted Grealish takes the right road, the one demanding total focus. #EFC

Will there be a separate soundtrack available, or is the audio experience exclusive to the arena show?

Nearly ten years ago, I first approached the David Bowie estate about creating “STAGE”—an immersive, multimedia arena show that would let audiences of up to 17,000 experience one of David’s finest filmed performances in a room full of like-minded fans. It seemed destined to be one of those ideas that arrive and vanish almost in the same breath.
But for some reason, this one stayed.
DAVID BOWIE “STAGE” will have its world premiere on February 14 at the Uber Arena in Berlin as part of the Berlin Film Festival.
What is it? It is not a movie screened in an arena. It is a curated multimedia experience designed specifically for arenas and presented on screens so large they require an arena setting. There is not one screen but several, each with its own image and perspective, inviting the audience to look where they want—more like theatre than cinema. Expect the unexpected.
We began our first assembly in 2018 and have been refining the sound and color grading since completing Moonage Daydream in 2021. The sound was designed and mixed by the team that collaborated on Moonage Daydream, led by Academy Award winner Paul Massey and three-time nominee David Giammarco. The sound design was created by Academy Award winners John Warhurst and Nina Hartstone and will be presented in 7.1.
The Lighting for the show has been designed by OBE Patrick Woodroffe, who collaborated with the Rolling Stones for decades. The lighting is as much a part of the experience as the sound and will be choreographed and integrated with the film elements in a way we’ve never seen. Hopefully, it will all work together seamlessly. One wonders. I suppose Berlin will be a bit of a high wire act.
This show was built for 2027 and would not have been possible without recent technological advances.
I am so grateful to the David Bowie Estate for entrusting me with this once in a lifetime opportunity. And am beyond grateful to Tricia Tuttle and her staff at the Berlin film festival for providing us with the most apropos launching pad.
And to the Bowie community who have been so supportive throughout this 10 year journey, this one is for you.

This has been changed to nine touches by Opta after the weekend.
It's the fewest touches by a player to play 72 minutes or more in a Premier League game this season - next lowest is 14.
The last time a player had fewer was Andre Brooks for Sheff U vs City in 2023 (seven) #EFC
Was taken off in the 72nd minute after making a total of 10 touches.
Dibling, with two minutes of injury time to go, has had 21 #EFC

45 games away at Arsenal, United, Chelsea and Liverpool for Moyes as Everton manager. 0 wins, 27 losses, 31 scored and 83 conceded. This myth that he’s a good manager needs to end.

Pay your £900 season tickets & kids too, rock up, watch groundhog day, go home, be quiet weekly & accept dinosaur tactics, when he goes we’ll then be told we had it lucky & thank him, from his patronising back strokers in the media whilst he sails off in the sunset to Celtic
