Interviewed Jason Isbell about ShoalsFest, reuniting with Drive-By Truckers for a live performance, if Jason's related to Guns N' Roses legend Izzy Stradlin (born Jeffery Isbell), the A.I. songwriting lawsuit, and much more. al.com/life/2026/09/jason-is…

My latest for @aldotcom: 10 @BillyStrings songs for people who aren't Billy Strings fans. As told to me by a superfan ahead of Billy's fourth year in a row of sold-out multi-show stands at @TheOrionAmp in my hometown of Huntsville, Alabama. al.com/life/2026/10/alabama-…

Jim Morrison would’ve been amazing on MTV.
Before music videos became a staple of music promotion, The Doors were already making them. Their 1966 promotional film for “Break On Through” is considered one of the earliest music videos, created by Elektra to promote the band’s debut album and first single. Directed by Mark Abramson, the film was sent to television stations, theaters, and music venues.

Merriam-Webster's Word of the Year should be 'dictionary.'

2 famous classic rock songs released same year but sound like they're from different years. I'll start us with "Achilles Last Stand" by Led Zeppelin and "Breakdown" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, both from 1976.

Love this build from the EVH Guitar Replicas FB forum, mixing looks from some of Eddie Van Halen's famous foxy guitars.

Make Lead Guitarists Topless Again
David Gilmour and Roger Waters locked in on stage at the Ernst-Merck-Halle in Hamburg, Germany, November 14, 1970. Heinrich Klaffs caught this great live moment during Pink Floyd's European tour, right after they put out Atom Heart Mother.

What's another guest solo from a famous guitarist on another famous band's track? Band not solo artist, so no EVH with MJ etc.
The lead solo on the 1986 Rolling Stones' "One Hit (To the Body)" wasn't played by a Stone. It was Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin. By his own account, he dropped by the studio to jam, put solos on a track, and didn't even know the song's name. "I don't know what it was called."

Welcome to the club, Fab Four
Sony is considering releasing all 4 ‘BEATLES’ biopics on the same day in April 2028. Another idea being considered is offering a 4-pack of tickets to encourage fans to buy tickets to all 4 films at once. (Source: hollywoodreporter.com/movies…)

And the beat goes on 🥁🎶🖤
I finally got to meet Chad Smith and say hello! When I was 8, he praised my drum cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Good Times Bad Times,” which helped introduce me to so many people around the world! Thank you so much, Chad!! It means so much to me!

If you love organic cinematic R&B, Victoria Jones' excellent new EP "Human Nature" does that. Produced by hit-making studio wiz Kelvin Wooten, and I wrote about it for AL.com. 📷 by Vic Vergara and Dokk Savage. al.com/life/2026/10/huntsvil…

Love Rick's content, always smart and interesting. White Stripes 2003 album Elephant comes to mind too here. Although not as many $10 chords as the Radiohead tune, songs like Seven Nation Army are musically colorful, made bluesy rock cool again, and as resonant today as ever, imo

Musician friend sent me this cool clip of The Raspberries on Mike Douglas Show. As my friend noted, Eric's voice is a little shot but it's still power-pop fun. One of songs they so, "I'm A Rocker," is one of my fave RB's tunes off my top LP by them Side 3. youtube.com/watch?v=hPaZLQJV…

Too Fast For Love era @MotleyCrue did a cover of Tonight that I've always loved. And reading Nikki interviews where he talked about Side 3 turned me onto that great Raspberries album. youtube.com/watch?v=mJrA4aHB…
