Yesterday I welcomed @AGToddBlanche to Charleston to discuss Logan’s Law and efforts to reduce violent crime here in South Carolina.
I’m grateful to my colleague @RepRussellFry for joining us, along with @USAO_SC Bryan Stirling, South Carolina law enforcement officials and Stephen Federico, Logan Federico’s father.
For those that don’t know, Logan’s Law is named after Logan Federico, a young woman who was tragically murdered in Columbia by a career criminal. Logan’s Law would create a Violent Criminal Offender Database so that the public knows when judges and soft-on-crime prosecutors let perpetrators off easy. Logan should still be with us today and her murderer should have been locked away long ago.
As your Senator, I am fighting to get Logan’s Law passed – and I’ll work closely with @RepRussellFry to get it done. As a mother of a soon to be college-aged daughter, I know how important it is that our campuses and communities are safe. Parents deserve to sleep peacefully at night knowing their children are safe. Logan’s Law will create better cooperation and communication between law enforcement agencies, ultimately helping to prevent similar tragedies from happening again.

The Pee Dee Regional Surface Water Treatment Plant is the heart of our region's water infrastructure, providing clean water to homes, schools, hospitals and businesses across the Pee Dee. I'm proud to have secured $2.5 million to help the City of Florence expand it.
I toured the plant and met with the city leaders who partnered with my team to make this happen.
This funding will boost capacity for a growing area and keep water flowing through hurricanes and extreme weather.
When disaster strikes, no family, hospital or first responder should have to question their water supply.

Congress should not sit on the sidelines as American families watch gas prices climb.

Today I introduced the EASE Act which would allow the President to suspend the gas tax temporarily for up to 120 days. ⛽️

Pawleys Island is a treasure & it’s why so many people visit each year. I was proud to work with their town leadership to bring a $1.5 million federal investment to help them make storm drainage improvements, improve road safety, strengthen the community’s resilience & protect our coastal environment.
