In 1965, my father asked Americans to come to Selma. Viola Liuzzo drove from Detroit to answer that call. Decades later, her story inspired a young Jocelyn Benson to spend her career on the unfinished work of the Civil Rights Movement. Tonight, Michigan elected her governor. Congratulations, my friend @JocelynBenson! #MIvote

The people have spoken.
Congratulations on an incredible and inspiring victory, @AbdulElSayed! Our members are ready to stand with a true fighter for the working class in the U.S. Senate.

On Election Day, the American people spoke loud and clear: they are done with the corruption, incompetence, and callousness coming from the White House and the capitulation of Republican leaders. As I traveled the country to campaign for Democrats up and down the ballot, I witnessed the resolve of the people to turn pain into purpose, and anger into action.
I congratulate all the great candidates who ran fantastic races and the thousands of volunteers who made calls, knocked on doors, and ensured Democrats won resoundingly.
Now, the work begins to actually deliver results. The American people have elected Democrats across the country in federal, state, and local races who must be ruthless in using every lever of power to deliver economic relief for working families and hold this administration accountable for their deep-seated corruption.
The people demand nothing less.

Let’s go!

Michigan, you showed up and showed out. I can’t express how grateful I am for your support, and I can’t wait to serve you in this role. Thank you for putting your trust in me. Let’s STAND TALL for Michigan together!
“JD, habibi, there is this delicious irony in the fact that you're constitutionally obligated to swear me in in January,” said Democrat Abdul El-Sayed after his projected win in the Michigan Senate race, in a dig at Vice President JD Vance.

BREAKING: SWEET REVENGE! The Navy Admiral who Pete Hegseth fired DEFEATS her MAGA opponent to win a House seat in South Carolina — cementing the blue tsunami with a poetic flourish!
This is just too beautiful...
Democrat Nancy Lacore, a 35-year Navy veteran who rose through the ranks from helicopter pilot to become Chief of Navy Reserve, was fired in August of 2025 amid Hegseth's purging of high-ranking women in the military. While no official reason was given, the deeply misogynistic Hegseth has not been coy about his caveman belief that only testosterone-injecting men should serve.
Lacore has now defeated Republican Jenny Costa Honeycutt to seize a seat that was formerly held by MAGA lunatic Nancy Mace who launched a failed bid for the governor's mansion this year.
Lacore has not been shy about criticizing Hegseth's disastrous mismanagement of the Defense Department, particularly his failed Iran War.
"Pete Hegseth is the most unqualified Secretary of Defense that we have ever had, and he is doing significant damage to our military that it will really take decades to undo," she said, adding that he "needs to go."
The most beautiful irony here? Congresswoman Lacore could soon be voting with the rest of the Democratic majority in the House to impeach Pete Hegseth. We have subpoena power starting in January, so we'll be able to uncover all of the gross negligence and rampant criminality that he's overseen.
Ain't karma grand?
Please ❤️ and share if you support impeaching Pete Hegseth!

I wish my mother could have seen Georgia last night.
When she called on women to become the soul of the nation, she was asking us to help shape what this country stands for and how it treats its people. She spent her life putting those words into action.
I thought of her as Keisha Lance Bottoms became the first Black woman elected governor of a U.S. state. I thought, too, of the Black women who went door to door, registered voters and organized for years. Many did not live to see what they helped make possible.
Congratulations, Governor-elect Bottoms. Congratulations also to Penny Brown Reynolds, Georgia’s next secretary of state, and Tanya Miller, our next attorney general.
I’m thinking of the Black girls who will grow up seeing women who look like them lead Georgia. I pray they see what my mother saw in leadership: the power to make life better for others and the responsibility to use it.

Congrats @AbdulElSayed! You built a truly grassroots movement and never lost the plot—and the plot is the people.
Michigan is ready for bold transformative leadership, and together, we can get money out of politics, put money in people’s pockets, and pass Medicare for All.

Michigan Senate Democrats will be returning to Lansing next term with 23 seats!
I’ve never seen harder workers than our candidates this cycle and the results speak for themselves. From day one, they were laser-focused on the issues that mattered to voters - lowering costs, fighting for working families, and standing up to the corruption coming out of Washington. Every one of our candidates left it all on the field and because of their hard work, Michiganders will have an expanded majority in the state Senate that’s ready to deliver even more progress for the people of our state.
I can’t wait to get to work!
