Cybersecurity stocks performing while the rest of tech vomits is something of a tell
There has been a surge of cyber attacks happening all over the world
I strongly recommend doing a full security audit on:
1. Your home WiFi network using one of the LLMs. At minimum get all your IoT devices on a guest network
2. Any code repositories you have deployed anywhere and even those you only run locally
3. Passkeys and MFA. Stop using that password from 8 years ago and move to a password manager like 1Password
All a pain to do but a tiny amount of time relative to cleaning up a potentially large mess later
2 tons of gold per year using the same amount of energy that each of the newest nuclear reactors in the US generate (Vogtle 1 & 2 in Georgia are both 1GW)
But with one, very big, asterisk... it must be *fusion*
Still very interesting, and impressive, but requires solving fusion energy at scale first
Last month, we demonstrated high-rate alchemy: turning mercury into real, stable gold, beating CERN’s record by a factor of 10.
Last week, we enriched isotopes in the world’s most powerful plasma centrifuge, beating the Soviet record that stood for 40 years.
Now, we’re building a fusion reactor in San Francisco to achieve record power density.
Hard to see how the S&P 500 isn't going to be a forced buyer. SpaceX just needs to be profitable for four quarters in a row

After a rough week in the markets, we all need to chill out. What better way than checking out this video @maxinomics by Phil Andrews @phlndrws. It's one of my favorite YouTube channels and today's video just dropped. Relevant topic, DATA CENTERS!

Everyone should slow down except for me
There's about 12 gigawatts of dedicated AI datacenter capacity in the US right now, Anthropic is building 15 more gigawatts over the next few years
That's more than a doubling. That doesn't look like someone interested in slowing down
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so.
Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.
