Massively enjoyed Iceland. Land of contrasts; spend your mornings having sunrise pints in the lagoon, your afternoon getting blown into a waterfall. @ Grindavík instagram.com/p/CWWdkKgpTMUt… – at Iceland
Well this is terrifying. The level of saltyness amongst certain sections of the British public against those who actually enjoy life never ceases to amaze me.
NEW: @ipsosmori polling for The Economist shows some Brits support anti-covid restrictions *permanently*, regardless of covid risk. Inc:
- 19% for nighttime curfews
- 26% for closing casinos and clubs
- 35% for travel quarantine
- 40% for masks

I tend to think everything @thedalstonyears writes is incredible, but even for her high standards, this is brilliant. Another slightly tragic example of how challenges to orthodoxy and critical thought in a debate provoke the worst defensive reactions on both sides.

Whether by strategic choice or limited representation in policy development, no10’s culture bailout has left out a fundamental component of the sector. They need to listen to @ntia’s #letusdance campaign and ensure sufficient funding is allocated to the night-time economy.
Socially, these spaces are where some of the most underrepresented and abused demographics can be themselves and gain a support structure. This scene was birthed in a struggle for racial and sexual equality; how can there be no recognition of the role they play?
The night-time economy - clubs, festivals, producers, Dj’s, labels and everything else that goes with it are an integral part of Britain’s cultural fabric. This government needs to recognize the integral role underground culture plays and support it appropriately. #LetUsDance
