As SPAC NAV discounts have widened and T-bill yields have increased, SPAC arbitrage yields have risen to 5.4%, now rivalling the yield of the bond index for the first time this year.
The entire market jumps 1% because one company may IPO. This is not the healthy signal you think it is.

Regarding the $1.8 billion fraud busts yesterday involving medical professionals.
This kind of fraud has been going on for 30+ years that I know of -- and I'm sure it didn't start only when I joined DOJ in 1992.
Trillions of dollars that were supposedly spend on health care for the poor and elderly have been lost to fraudsters over the decades.
And a huge chunk of that money was lost to foreign organized crime groups.
When the U.S. Govt is just giving money away under idiotic rationalizations with little or no verification that the services were actually rendered or that the patients really benefitted, then the criminals of the world will sprint to our doorstep and take what is being offered.
The kind of work-ethic that has built the United States over more than 2 centuries is completely foreign to most cultures around the world where the survival instinct trumps all. And that instinct has led to cultural norms that say it's ok to steal if the alternative is to starve.
What constitutes "starvation" can have a variety of points of view.

NEW: Multiple federal sources confirm to @FoxNews that the suspect arrested for using a sledgehammer to behead a WW2 Iwo Jima monument in Quantico, VA on Tuesday is a Mexican illegal alien & former DACA recipient whose legal status expired this year.
Miguel Alonso Maldonado Soriano has now been charged with felony destruction of property and trespass with intent to damage property.
Per federal sources, Soriano illegally crossed into the U.S. in December 1999. He was granted DACA by the Obama administration in 2014 and had it extended for years, most recently by the Biden admin in 2024, but he lost his DACA status in August of this year when it wasn’t renewed by the Trump administration.
This data doesn't jive with Dem belief Texas is in play.
The big question now is, does this mean Democrats are not doing as well as currently believed in the rest of America, or is this just a Texas thing?
