"This isn't just another place for me. This is who I am. I grew up here." Had an absolute blast writing this story about Trent Smiley, a former #KUfball TE & current senior project manager with JE Dunn Construction, working on the completion of the very stadium that he once played in for the program he gave everything to. Pretty cool. r1s1sports.com/more-than-jus…

HALFTIME at AFH... No. 17 #KUbball leads No. 2 Duke 45-43 after an up-and-down and wildly entertaining first half. Don't really think KU played anywhere near their best, yet here they are leading a damn good Duke team at the break.

Luke Barnett checks in for the final 7.8 seconds of this half after #KUbball gained possession... Shooter!

Trent Perry's given #KUbball some really good minutes here this half. And that bucket put KU ahead.

Tie ballgame. Timeout Duke. Keanu Dawes drains a rhythm 3 from the top of the key to tie this one up at 40-all. 2:22 to play in the 1st half. #KUbball trailed 30-19 and is on a 21-10 run.

Jayhawks showing some serious fight... It hasn't always been pretty, but they're in it. Duke leads 38-32 with 3:53 to play in the first half. Taylen Kinney's 3-pointer a moment ago cut the Blue Devils' lead to 3. #KUbball

#KUbball now just 4-for-9 from the free throw line so far today... Duke leads 30-19, mid-1H

Big ovation for former #KUbball coach Roy Williams, who is seated courtside today with his wife, Wanda. Many KU fans stood and applauded. The student section bowed his way. Cool moment. You know it means the world to him.

#KUbball is fighting for everything today and hanging in there. Duke getting a lot of what it's getting with relative ease for the most part. Duke 20, KU 15 | 11:36 1H

There's Kinney in the game for #KUbball for Melvin Council. Cramps the other night appear to be no issue and he's back out there. I secretly love him as a 6th-man option for this loaded roster.

Duke wins the tip and immediately scores, 4 seconds into the game... This is gonna be wild. #KUbball

Self said this the other day but here are your starters for today's exhibition finale vs. Duke for #KUbball 🔺Melvin Council Jr. 🔺Leroy Blyden Jr. 🔺Tre White 🔺Tyran Stokes 🔺Christian Reeves Game on.

Pretty solid Duke presence at Allen Fieldhouse today. Good for them for making the trip. No. 17 #KUbball vs. No. 2 Duke coming up!!! Former KU & North Carolina coach Roy Williams is here today. Is there anyone rooting harder for Kansas than him???

Sure looked to me like that game-winning drive led by #KUfball quarterback Isaiah Marshall was the finest drive put together by the young KU QB to date. After the win, I talked to some of the key players on the 71-yard scoring drive that gave KU its homecoming win over Baylor & here's what they had to say... r1s1sports.com/ku-qb-isaiah-…

Was in the press box writing for this and I said, “Oh, sh#t! That’s Todd.” 🤣 Saw that dude make an insane number of big plays on that very field. Cool to see him get one more in all these years later on a good day for the #KUfball program…

On the illegal substitution penalty against #KUfball that Leipold was so heated over, he said the replay officials in Dallas took over the call... He added that he'll be making a call to get a better explanation because he wants to know what they're supposed to tell their players in that situation and also added that the "white hat" (head referee) owned it when all was said and done.

Leipold: We challenged both sides of the ball to be more physical today and they answered the call. #KUfball "I'm happy for the guys. We see it each and every day that these guys come in and work and they do what they're asked to do." "If he makes the FG, this press conference is completely different. And that's the difference between winning and losing."

Leipold said he didn't know in the immediate aftermath who blocked the FG but you could hear the double-thump pretty clear — ball hits foot, ball hits hand — and it was a huge moment. His mind immediately flipped to the chaos and making sure they didn't get a celebration flag. #KUfball He added: That was something that we needed; we needed a win.
