A light show was held on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
The drones first rose into the night sky in a spiral, then formed the outlines of the destroyed World Trade Center towers.
The installation used 2,977 drones — one for each person killed in the attacks.

I don’t know you personally, but as someone who worked for McClatchy at the News and Observer in Raleigh, I don’t think people realize how bad this is. What’s happened to local news is devastating.
When local coverage is gutted, you’re losing people who intimately know your community. The local perspective is lost and the narrative of the community becomes shaped by outsiders who don’t understand the people there or completely ignored altogether.
Somehow, a 1/4 century has passed, and yet, so many souls who died that day are forever frozen in time. Remembering them & the heroes of this day of infamy.
Wishing we all could quit yelling past each other & focus on constructive help for humans around us in need. Imagine.
