Too many people wait until they're exhausted or depressed to make change or seek help.
Mental health isn't something to put on the back burner. We can't keep good habits in storage until we need them.
Mental hygiene should be as ingrained in our daily routine as dental hygiene.

Your ability to speak clearly is enhanced by reading (not listening) to books and by writing and journaling in complete sentences. Texting, voice dictation and audio books are wonderful but degrade articulation. Conversely, structured writing aids structured speech.

Making good eye contact with your audience is one of the best ways to build trust. A good rule of thumb is to think about the camera as a tangible representation of your conversation partner & interact with it in the same way you would face-to-face. speakerdynamics.com/virtual-…

This research confirms video meeting fatigue exists. Turning off the camera is not the answer. My data shows audio meetings are truly terrible. Time to embrace and test best practices for effective meetings to minimize or eliminate #zoomfatigue rather than cameras.

The irony of "soft skills" is that they're often the hardest to master.
Leadership, communication, collaboration, creativity, and adaptability may not be technical, but they're increasingly vital.
Behavioral, social, and emotional skills are what make humans indispensable.

55M meetings happen in the US every day. They cost a total of $1.4 TRILLION, but leave 89% of attendees unhappy. @meetingscience buff.ly/3yYOVVq

We pay members of our team @whoop a sleep bonus if they get over 85% of their sleep need in a month. We also have a Red Recovery Policy to stay home if your body is run down. Team = 400 FTEs. And yes it works. @balajis

COVID has shown that if one person gets sick, all can suffer. Similarly, if a fellow employee’s health falters, the organization suffers.
We have developed sophisticated mechanisms for aligning wealth in the form of equity. Can we align health to make people healthy?

Start with 25 and 50 minute meetings (set speedy meetings if using Google). Make sure there is a clearly defined purpose. An agenda shared beforehand. Measure progress and be accountable with @meetingscience

I need 3K retweets in the next 24 hours: My name is Eric Garcia. I am running against Devin Nunes. I am a disabled Marine Corps veteran — and I'm going to win. Please retweet this & ask everyone you know to follow this campaign and join us. This is a critical mission. Let’s go!

1) meeting should be 25 minutes
2) host should start zoom b4 time
3) eliminate introductions with agenda that outlines people’s R&R
4) if the organizer had @meetingscience, he/she would know in advance about back-to-back conflicts and prepare/schedule differently

Where to focus:
For the beginner, execution.
For the intermediate, strategy.
For the expert, mindset.

Respectfully, this might only work if your meetings aren't decision-oriented. Neuroscience proves that we make worse decisions the later in the day we make them (just ask casinos, also see @adamleealter's work on decision-making). Time-boxing mtgs = less optimal decision strategy

Depends on if those zooms have a purpose, goal, and agenda. A corporate athlete is just like an athlete - proper training/preparation can yield superior results. Too often for meetings, that doesn't happen...but it can. BTW, enjoying my first 2 days with @whoop. @meetingscience

The ultimate form of optimization is elimination.
Nothing is more effective than removing the ineffective.

Is the new normal of video meetings the acceptable normal? And when we get back to meeting human to human, what behavior changes will we carry over from #remotemeetings?
