HUGE personal news today. I’m joining the @z3_project as a fellow, to work on a book about building a new Jewish golden age. (Turns out, you can get a BFA in experimental theatre, stubbornly skip grad school to start a business, and still become a fellow at a think tank.) Thank you so much to @davidhazony @AmitaiFraiman and @ZackBodner for making this happen, and the Wicked Son team for backing me to the hilt. 💕
Just before @z3_project launches its 2026 conference in Palo Alto—I am thrilled to announce that @MegKeene, editor of Meg Keene Books, bestselling author, and renowned New-Borscht-Belt advocate, is now a fellow at the Z3 Institute. Welcome aboard Meg!

💯 Not sure folks understand how much has already been lost by not making this investment earlier: how many narratives have been usurped in the vacuum of a thriving Jewish arts & culture; how many visionaries have already given up; how many of us have shouted this from the rooftops & depleted our lives savings trying to infuse Jewish meaning & beauty into our world. This is needed desperately, posthaste. 🙏

Excited to talk about new acquisitions, gaps in my list, and the future of Jewish literature.
On Sunday, November 8, from 5-6 p.m. Eastern, I'll attend the @JewishBook Writers' Conference, where I'll speak on a panel called "New Jewish Literary Ventures.” I'll join @MegKeene and Aviya Kushner, moderated by Shira Schindel. I'll talk about Canary Publishing and the fight against the marginalization of Jewish authors after October 7. I also have to say that the Jewish Book Council has risen to the occasion and introduced several new programs to help Jewish authors. You can register here. jewishbookcouncil.org/events…

A lot of Jews are not making an effort to distinguish between friend and foe at a time that we cannot afford to be abusing our friends. Brianna has stood up for us many times. She doesn't deserve this kind of treatment.
I am extremely upset about the way the pro-Israel community treated me yesterday. I understand this election is heated. I understand the Democrat’s reaction to anyone with concerns about El-Sayed has essentially been “Fuck you.” But I’ve critiqued him daily and aggressively. I’ve said I would vote for no one in this race. Apparently, that is not enough. I have to openly endorse someone that wants to continue ending my civil rights. What upset me the most is how, the second I don’t even disagree but abstain, the pro Israel community launched viral threads calling me a man hundreds of times. I was flat out told that I have a mental illness and can never be accepted as pro Israel, which is exactly what the Islamists think. This was abusive and deeply unfair. What has happened to legitimate transsexual women in the last two years under Donald Trump has been horrific. Forcibly detransitioning every single federal prisoner. Ending our protections at work from discrimination. Banning all research into figuring out how to help us. Legally reclassifying me to be a man federally. When I ask people to name five of these civil rights I’ve lost you can’t. You frequently deny it’s happening at all or lazily point to some imaginary Sharia law taking over the United States. The Senate is not going to get to 51 votes and usher in Islamism. It is not fair to ask me to support that continued elimination from public life. The stakes for me are very high, Republicans want to ban medication I will literally die without. I’ve never told anyone to vote for El-Sayed. I understand why people would defect to Rogers. I am asking for the same respect back. The thing that got me, the most is how people are so eager to see the worst in me. I don’t know what I could do to stand with the pro Israel side more than I’ve done.

My favorite story of this entire crazy season of my life is finding other Jewish Keenes. @thislouis wrote about it in a beutiful essay. Today we got three Jewish Keenes together at @z3_project. Even though Andrew Keene and I are not blood related (@thislouis and I, crazily, are) it immediately felt like family. All of us have very small Jewish families so we just decided, this is us! (And yes, I’m tearing up writing this.) The best part of the whole thing is someone walked up to Andrew today and said, "oh, are you one of the Jewish Keenes? I know all about that." Are we family? Well. It's a long story, and it goes back to Sinai. forward.com/forward-newslett…

So proud and delighted to speak on a panel at @z3_project today with powerhouses @LoganLevkoff and @haleygeffen. Video to come, but there was so much personality and smarts. After six really difficult years, it’s so good to be back on a conference stage.

At the @z3_project conference with the other @z3 fellows. This is why you create a Zionist think tank. The sheer brainpower and ideas flying fast and furious, “Oh you should include this idea in your book,” “that idea relates to this other one…” IT IS NO DREAM. 💕 With: @adam_louis52328 @karajesella @IzaTabaro @SethAMandel @benj_kerstein @davidhazony @HusseinAboubak @ScholemTzadak

A warm welcome to @MegKeene, the newest Z3 Institute fellow. Her essay for @jewishsf makes a case every Jewish donor should hear: we won't build a future only by fighting darkness. We also have to make light, by investing in the novels, music and art that carry who we are. She speaks at Z3 tomorrow. @z3_project
I was honored to be asked to write this essay by @z3_project—where I’ll be speaking this weekend—for @jewishsf. “We raise scientists who read novels, mathematicians who love symphonies, engineers who collect paintings. We have always understood that art is not incidental to Jewish life; it is how we understand ourselves and pass our heritage to the next generation. This is not work we can outsource to a handful of the wealthiest donors. We have to believe our culture matters enough to attend concerts, visit exhibitions, subscribe to literary magazines, buy books and, yes, write checks. If we want Jewish culture to survive, we have to be willing to pay for it.” Read it in full, I’m proud of this one: jweekly.com/2026/10/28/dispe…

Some of us started screaming into the abyss about what was coming in 2018, and watching this unfold, slowly and then all at once, has bern one of the most horrifying experiences of my life. I wanted so badly to be wrong.
It’s wild that people have no understanding of what they’ve become, and how far from talking about reality they’ve gone. The Jews, for them, are just a stand-in for the concept of “evil”—no motivation or explanation needed; it’s just Jews being Jews.

We need to stop throwing good money after bad, trying to convince people to like us. Instead we need to invest in ourselves. One of the key ways we do this is by investing in Jewish CULTURE. P.S. I’m asking you to do fun and fulfilling work, and telling you IT MATTERS.
As part of our media partnership with JWeekly, we’re sharing a new article by Z3 Conference speaker Meg Keene: “Dispel the darkness by investing in Jewish art and Jewish artists.” Meg makes the case for investing in the artists and stories that help us understand ourselves and shape a Jewish future. Read her piece ahead of Z3 on November 1: jweekly.com/2026/10/28/dispe…

It always seemed perfectly clear to me that there was ENORMOUS evidence of his guilt. So. Yeah. Glad we’re coming around.
Have you guys ever gone back and listened to Season 1 of Serial and thought "wait, why did we think he was innocent?"

I like that we based our electoral system on the Talmud. No answers, but aren’t we glad we vigorously discussed the question? Now: my wife’s ghost asked me to bring her lipstick to the cemetery, should I?
ISRAELI ELECTION CHEAT SHEET 1. Voters vote 2. Inconclusive exit polls are released missing the last two hours of the vote <- YOU ARE HERE 3. All major party leaders claim victory, regardless of whether they were victorious 4. Weeks of negotiation 5. ???

You guys started a war and lost it, then cried for sympathy. Dassit. That is the whole story.
Debate Zionism, colonialism and Israel's history all you like. None of it changes the moral reality of NOW. Israel has killed tens of thousands of Palestinians, destroyed homes and wiped out entire bloodlines. At some point, a functioning moral compass means calling that out. Ian Dale's framing does the opposite. It provides cover for Israel's crimes.
