I’ve seen a lot of posts about the Finnish study showing that people who drink more coffee have lower body fat and higher testosterone.
Interesting study, but there are some major limitations:
❌️ 97% of participants drank coffee. Only 70 out of 2,264 drank none. This was largely a comparison of coffee drinkers vs heavier coffee drinkers.
❌️ It was cross-sectional. It shows correlation, not that coffee caused lower body fat or higher testosterone.
❌️ Coffee intake was self-reported, without good data on cup size, brewing method, or actual caffeine dose.
❌️ Higher coffee intake was associated with higher total testosterone and SHBG, but LOWER free testosterone.
❌️ Testosterone was measured at a single point in time.
❌️ Higher coffee intake was also associated with other lifestyle differences, creating plenty of opportunity for residual confounding.
The study is interesting and hypothesis-generating. But it does NOT show that drinking more coffee will lower your body fat or raise your biologically active testosterone.

This whole coldcard fiasco is going to lead to a lot more AI assisted security reviews of Bitcoin related software and firmware. With AI, non-coders can now run their own analysis of the code. This will in the end be a net positive for Bitcoin.
Following the recent Coldcard events, we performed an additional review of Passport's entropy architecture – for current and previous Passport models – and want to share more about our existing testing and continued code hardening.
Passport contains multiple independent hardware randomness sources. Before releasing each Passport model, we empirically tested each source, as well as the final combined entropy output, and performed statistical analysis on the results.
Since January, we’ve also been regularly running frontier AI models against our code alongside human review of every change. This includes GPT trusted cyber access.
Going forward, we intend to publish a report alongside each new software release identifying which frontier models were used plus any key findings.
We are also:
(1) Adding further health monitoring to detect hardware component failures and ensure that an improbable hardware failure never results in a low-entropy seed.
(2) Releasing our internal entropy-testing app on Passport Prime so anyone can generate millions or billions of samples, save them to a USB drive, and perform independent statistical analysis.
Our additional review found no evidence of an entropy vulnerability in Passport Prime, Passport Core, or Passport Founders Edition devices.
No action is needed for Passport-generated seeds. Thank you.

For those that follow Bitcoin, this is definitely giving me bottom signals. Price is at bottom of my customized Power Law percentiles, RSI at rock bottom. MACD rock bottom. The bottom green line (now $61,100) has held up since 2011 for bottoms of Bitcoin price.

The most common fear I hear from men 30-45 considering TRT: "Will it kill my fertility?"
Honest answer: exogenous testosterone does suppress the HPG axis. Your testicles get the signal to stop producing. Sperm count drops.
But this is reversible in most men with HCG (which mimics LH and keeps the testes active).
A proper TRT protocol for men who want to preserve fertility includes HCG from day one, not as an afterthought.
The mistake isnt going on TRT. Its going on a protocol that ignores fertility entirely.
Any prescriber who puts a 32 year old on TRT without discussing HCG is doing him a disservice.

Growth hormone peaks during deep sleep. Specifically stages 3 and 4 of NREM.
But here's what kills it:
1. Eating within 2 hours of bed. Insulin suppresses GH secretion. That late dinner or pre-bed snack is directly competing with your body's recovery window.
2. Room temperature above 67°F. GH release is temperature sensitive. Your body needs to drop core temp to access deep sleep. Warm room = shallow sleep = less GH.
3. Blue light after 9pm. Melatonin and GH share a circadian trigger. When you suppress melatonin with screens, you suppress GH too.
4. Alcohol. Even 2 drinks before bed reduces GH output by up to 70% that night.
The guys spending $300-500/month on peptides to boost GH won't fix the basics first.
Sleep cool. Sleep dark. Stop eating late. Your endocrine system will do the rest.
Glad to see the FDA is moving forward in reviewing these peptides.
Today, we took long-overdue action to restore science, accountability, and the rule of law.
In September 2023, the Biden FDA pushed a number of peptides into Category 2 — “Bulk Drug Substances that Raise Significant Safety Risks” — driving a dangerous black market that puts Americans at risk.
Now, after nominators withdrew 12 peptides, the FDA will remove them from Category 2 and will bring them to PCAC at its next two meetings, beginning in July—where independent experts will rigorously evaluate each substance on its scientific merits using full clinical, pharmacological, and safety evidence.
• BPC-157
• Thymosin beta-4 fragment (LKKTETQ)
• Epitalon
• GHK-Cu (injectable)
• MOTS-c
• DSIP (Emideltide)
• Dihexa Acetate
• Ibutamoren Mesylate
• Melanotan II
• KPV
• Semax (heptapeptide)
• Cathelicidin LL-37
This action begins to restore regulated access and will immediately begin shifting demand away from the black market.
We will follow the science, enforce the law, and deliver the clarity patients, providers, and pharmacies deserve.
Every 1% increase in body fat drops total testosterone by roughly 10-15 ng/dL.
The mechanism: aromatase enzyme in adipose tissue converts testosterone into estradiol. More body fat = more aromatase = less T, more estrogen. It's a vicious cycle.
This is why lean men in their 40s often have higher T than overweight men in their 20s.
Body composition isn't just a result of hormones. It's a driver of them.
High SHBG is the silent killer of libido in fit men.
It binds up your testosterone so tightly that your total T looks great on paper but your free T (the active fraction) is in the dirt.
I see this constantly in guys who lift, eat clean, take supplements. The fix isn't always more T.
It's understanding the binding dynamic and making lifestyle adjustments to fix it.
Semaglutide and tirzepatide don't catabolize muscle directly. The lean mass loss comes from:
1. Caloric deficit exceeding what the body can pull from fat stores alone
2. Reduced appetite crashing protein intake below 1g/kg
3. No anabolic signal (resistance training) to preserve tissue
Translation: the muscle loss is preventable. But most clinicians don't bother preventing it.
The fix is embarrassingly simple:
→ 1.2g/kg protein minimum
→ 3-4 resistance training sessions/week
→ Check total + free testosterone before starting
→ Consider TRT if T is suboptimal
None of this is controversial. None of it is standard of care either.
Most men over 35 feel exhausted, stuck at the gym, and mentally flat.
Their doctor says their labs are normal.
They're not wrong. But normal isn't optimal.
