Spent the weekend trying out LLM psychosis
I had Astra, Opus 5.5, and Argon do science autonomously and try to write research papers
Super fun and addictive, feels like you're getting so much done. But then I read the papers and they were almost completely nonsense
Had an incredible "feel the AGI" moment from this
I saw this tweet and remembered this game
I asked claude to "get the exact kkrieger binary wroking in the browser somehow"
2 hours later it had written its own Direct3D 9 and x86 emulator

In 2004, a German demoscene group released a game called .kkrieger.
It was a full 3D first-person shooter with dynamic lighting, textures, sound effects, music, and monster AI.
The entire executable was 96 kilobytes. Instead of storing images and audio files, they wrote C++ and Assembly that generated the 3D meshes, textures, and sound waves mathematically in RAM when the game booted.
Today, a single website's "Accept Cookies" banner is 10x larger than that entire 3D game.
Gradient descent can easily learn a uniform distribution
Here's an animation of a two layer MLP learning it

It is difficult to get a man to understand something, if his racism depends on not understanding it
Replying to @Noahpinion
As it happens, I have had a surgery from an Indian doctor and while of course I’m grateful for his fine work, one wonders how much immigration the rest of America is required to tolerate to repay my gratitude. If we let that doctor stay, is it repaid? If we say that doctors as a class can come, does that repay it? What if we let 100,000 new people come here, does that repay it? What about a million immigrants a year? What about 100 million?
Are we really not allowed to care at all about rapid cultural change because the doctor who performed my surgery 25 years ago was from India?
This is one of those issues where people of a certain age will never change their minds, and people born today will never understand how their parents could be so weird
In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.
