This can't be real? minimum 12 months in jail for retweeting nazi symbols? and a dedicated taskforce for policing this....
I kept all my original Pokemon cards in plastic sleeves as a kid incase they were worth money one day. Now that they are I’m actually kind of disgusted. Something deeply unsettling about the market for 90s nostalgia. It’s too big and frenzied, something that should not exist in a society unless it’s childless and dying.
Trying to use my forked version of blender with AI built directly in to make a new letter holder for my bills on my desk and you still get a lot of AI-isms even on latest models. Arms and hands seem to be a problem
Used a picture of the moon and made a 3d model in blender rather than printing craters and hills etc the print is mostly fairly smooth but I vary the wall thickness to adjust how light shows through. Came out quite nice in a glow in the dark PLA. I might upscale this 4x and put it on the wall
Funny how it’s often the same people who think “international law” is a law of physics also think a nation is just an idea or set of values.
Spent the whole day doing system design with Claude on an update/overhaul of our commenting system and man this thing is still very bad at system design. Its suggestions would’ve “worked” but been a very bad way to do things. And it also failed to consider a bunch of product decisions that an engineer would’ve identified
Fable 5.1 is going to steal the declaration of independence to find the secret treasure
Is it wrong to steal a loaf of bread to feed your starving family?
And what if your family don't like bread.... they like Bottega bags

I could write at length about this but the one sentence summary is that people confuse being a nerd/socially awkward with being smart and this has been a disaster for software systems
The one time I try to do the right thing and document something. The gods are telling me that I have been right and the longhouse of design docs is wrong and evil
Attention is all you need. No not that attention. I mean someone just needs to actually look (or have AI look).
Good time to remind people that it is possible that you will need to rotate all keys/secrets at a time when you cannot trigger new deployments. Take this into consideration for your risk profile.
Railway has a lot of really uncomfortable takes about software development and quality which look really bad in certain circumstances even if they are completely unrelated
People are beginning to realise that software is not solved at all and only appears that way because the industry has spent the last 20+ years with zero standards and a baseline competency rate that is unthinkable for any other industry.
Swear to god there must be a town in China called Australia based on these made in / shipped from Australia claims
Your website is telling me my password isn't strong enough but it's literally a root CA private key (4) so I don't know what to tell you

I was under the impression that banks were required by law to have not only multi AZ but multi cloud infra…. Is this no longer the case?
🚨 Google lost power in London this morning and Revolut, a bank with 80 million customers, went down with it.
I've spent the morning reading what Revolut users went through. It's wild.
People stranded at petrol stations, unable to pay for fuel or a taxi to the airport.
One traveller couldn't get out of a train station in Japan.
A 71-year-old woman stood at a supermarket till for an hour. Her kid had to drive 30km to bring her cash.
Card payments, transfers, ATM withdrawals, currency exchange, share trading. All down.
Revolut's statement said "all our customers' money and data are safe."
Safe. You just can't touch it.
Google's explanation so far is a "power event" in one zone of its London cloud region. Its advice to affected customers was to move their workloads to another zone or region "if feasible."
Must be nice. Revolut customers couldn't even move £10.
In July the UK government put Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft and Oracle under direct Bank of England oversight, because one outage at any of them could shake the entire financial system.
12 days ago the Bank of England ran a drill with the UK's 38 biggest banks and market operators. The scenario they practised was a global cloud outage.
And exactly one year ago today, AWS went down and took Lloyds and Halifax with it.
Same date. Different cloud. Lloyds was having problems again this morning.
Revolut spent five years earning a UK banking licence.
Bitcoin has been running for almost 18 years. It doesn't have a London region.
