One of the most common questions we get is “what size of smokestopper should we use?” Well, size does matter, but there are some variables to consider. Follow Us X/TWITTER @FPequipment WEBSITE flashpointequipment.com #flashpointequipment #smokeblockingdevices

Ventilating an apartment can be challenging when it comes to fan placement. Narrow hallways and larger fan bases mean you can’t always place the fan out a distance equal to the height of the door opening due to space limitations. Now what? #flashpointequipment

7/10 Using a special smoke curtain, the firefighters succeeded in sealing off access to the burning basement room. They were then able to remove smoke from the stairwell using a high-performance fan, thus making the escape route usable again.

3/10 When the fire department arrived, the stairwell of the four-story building was already heavily smoke filled. A short time later, flames were already coming out of a basement window.

ventilating the stair should go together with protecting the stairs! Smoke curtains will do a great job in this case.
Any operations conducted above the fire have added risk to civilians and firefighters who may get caught in the outlet flow path. Follow Us TWITTER @FPequipment WEBSITE flashpointequipment.com #flashpointequipment #flowpath #firebehavior #FireEducation

... just a picture from one of my last fires in a highrise ... I placed a camera the this position and it is very interesting what happens in the first 15 minutes of a fire at this very important position during an incident!

Despite lifts blocked by the fire service: some know how to unblock and operate them. Therefore: #protectthestairs

About 1 m^3 (35ft^3) of pure (concentrated) smoke per sec. flowing into the stair. Mixed with further air the volume of smoke multiplies. Enough to fill up the stairway in minutes and transfer it into a hazard zone for civilians without protection equipment. #protectthestairs
