“Xanadu” was written and produced by Jeff Lynne specifically for the 1980 musical fantasy film Xanadu. Performed by Olivia Newton-John with the Electric Light Orchestra, the song was recorded at Musicland Studios in Munich, with Olivia providing the lead vocals and ELO contributing the instrumentation and backing vocals.
Released in 1980, “Xanadu” became a major international hit, reaching No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart for two weeks and No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also topped the charts in several European countries and became the only UK No. 1 credited to ELO. The film's dance sequences had already been shot to an earlier demo of the song. When ELO recorded the final version, they had to match the demo's tempo so the finished recording would synchronise with the footage, giving the song its slightly unusual rhythmic feel.

Copper Island Pub in Sorrento closed for business. This is a prime example of the result of policies and the economic realities under an NDP provincial government and a Federal liberal government. That business has been around as long as I can remember.

Sam Cooper's book "Wilful Blindness" should be required high school reading. In short, 1 in 3 housing units in Vancouver were financed by 🇨🇳 proceeds of crime. That @MarkJCarney & @gregorrobertson are using $3B of taxpayers 💰 to bail out the CCP-backed condo developers is corrupt in the extreme. The 🇺🇸 is fully aware. 🇨🇦 TD Bank was fined $3B for 💰 laundering in the US. Factor this into the CUSMA negotiations.

Granular knowledge of how the Vancouver Condo Kings are the major supporters of people like Gregor Robertson, Justin Trudeau and Mark Carney was my past reporting beat. I’m not going back to it, other reporters need to pick that up. Read JWR’s chapter about meeting Trudeau in his friend’s pent house to understand who Carney is bailing out. I can say the Chinese money behind all these Liberals makes the story so much worse than a Liberal bail out of slick developers. This is scandalous and nationally ruinous.

I am outraged by the B.C. Review Board’s slippery slope normalization of someone who killed their children.
A conditional discharge is not a minor administrative step. It is part of a process that moves him closer to greater freedom.
This is an individual who since incarcerated has had incidents of verbal aggression and threatening behaviour toward staff and in a previous hearing said the public should “lighten up”.
This is also an individual who successfully changed his legal name.
Promised reviews and reforms of the BC Review Board have amounted to not a damn thing. The status quo remains and victims and the public suffer as a result.

A professor built an app in 12 hours that Meta's billion dollar team never wanted to exist.
It detects their Ray-Ban glasses nearby using Bluetooth.
Your phone vibrates: "Smart Glasses are probably nearby."
Meta's own internal memo said they'd launch facial recognition on the glasses "during a dynamic political environment" when civil rights groups would be too distracted to fight back.
Harvard students already proved it works.
They built glasses that reveal your name, phone number and home address just by looking at your face.
Meta sold 7 million pairs last year.
They look identical to normal glasses.
The LED that blinks when recording? There are tutorials to disable it.
One professor got fed up and built a counter in his spare time.
It's Free & open source with zero ads.
Detects within 50 feet outdoors. 32 feet in a crowd.

Instead of spending $12.3B we don’t have on so-called “grocery rebates,” why not cut the GST on food altogether?
That would directly help singles, seniors, and low-income households—right away.
