😂 Everyone rediscovering commercial software development from first principles xitter.cf/hustle_fred/status/211…
4 months ago I cloned Airtable for a client in 5 days because they refused to pay Airtable $500/mo months later, I’m still maintaining it every two weeks it’s another edge case, a UI tweak, or a "quick 10-minute request." They’ve easily spent 10x more in headaches than the $2,000 they would’ve paid Airtable just proving that SaaS isn't dead. Cloning isn't enough, if you want it to be same quality as original it becomes a full time job and at this point isn't it easier to just pay?

I didn't know they would appreciate in value. I just bought a 128gb Mac Studio for local LLMs I couldn't imagine buying 8 of them 😅

This seems like a lot unless you just have money to burn.

I've wanted this for a long time so I just built it. I was testing how well models can build native Swift code, turns out... really well. Check it out at heyarke.com

Any form of security through obscurity is fully over. This barely worked as a method with humans, but just simply is over in a world of autonomous systems that will look through every crevice and try every permutation of attack possible. As a result, years and years of legacy enterprise infrastructure will need to be upgraded, security practices modernized, data pipelines cleaned up, access controls better managed, and much more. Agents will help on the defensive side because they can both accelerate this work and equally simulate the risk vectors. But there’s a long road ahead to prepare for this future. This is also partially why diffusion timelines will take longer than some realize.
a lot of old software was protected by “exploiting this would be an unreasonable amount of work” we have invented a machine that does unreasonable amounts of work anyway how’s the patch backlog

We're proud to be featured in @OpenAI's Decisions API launch. Enterprise AI gets useful when understanding a document leads to action. Our work with Box Extract and the Decisions API explores that fast-decision layer, turning document understanding into an automated workflow. Routine work automated, lower-confidence cases sent to reviewers.
Add near real-time decisions to your workflow with the Decisions API, now generally available. Build faster, more cost-efficient apps and agents that can classify text and images, evaluate inputs, and determine what happens next without generating a full model response.

when the cybersecurity team finds out there are actual vulnerabilities and they have to do their jobs instead of trying to trick someone into clicking a phishing email

Here's a new AI app stack you can dive into this week. File systems coupled with LLMs become a powerful backend for apps. @Box ran a hackathon with @awscloud and challenged hackers to explore this new concept. I came out of this hackathon inspired and fired up for whats possible with this new stack. Read about it here 👇

It would be really cool if we weren't getting 502s from Cloudflare...
