ALT As Amanda and I were hiking through the valley that you see below I looked up and saw this towering spire. Naturally I figured it would make a great foreground to this impressive Icelandic background. So I stripped down my camera bag to the bare essentials and began what I thought would be a relatively quick and simple climb. 45 minutes of wheezing and sweating later, covered in mud, I finally made it into a rocky ledge that overlooked this valley. It was worth it. If you look closely you can see Amanda in her pink jacket sitting down the valley just to the left of the spire. Her jacket almost perfectly matches those lovely little wildflowers you can see in the foreground. I can't wait to revisit this area on a grey and cloudy day but I doubt I'll be making this perilous climb again. Thanks for reading Gavin - Fototripper
