I'm sitting quite a lot on trains. I like to study. I like to improve my recall skills. But I hate to manually create flashcards. So now I just ask Jipity 😂

I guess I could've used quizlet, but I just wanted to figure out how to build MCP Apps on Cloudflare Workers. Also used this project to test private deployments to Appflare, works like a charm.

Now I can spend my commute usefully and get personalised study sets, different recall methods. Education should be personalised, and not forcing people in lanes. I know, I learn best with recall practice, but others might need visuals or audio.

We got spend-cap and budget alerts faster on appflare then from Cloudflare itself. Hmmm… Awesome release by the way! 👏🏻👏🏻
Appflare is a free, open-source app store for your own Cloudflare account: 100+ apps, one click each. But what if one loops all night? Introducing: spend protection! Appflare tracks every app, warns you if one runs away, and can pause it. website: appflare.dev github: github.com/appflare/appflare

This itself is enough reason to deploy your own workers through appflare.

These are the uncomfortable questions that many of us feel and which the AI labs deliberately ignore. Things will settle, as e.g. we still have craftsmen despite having automated factories in other industries as well. But a lot of people will hurt in the meantime.
Alright. I want you to read this. Earlier today, I released a new component. What you see is the finished result. What you don’t see are the days of planning, research, testing, designing, simplifying, throwing ideas away, and trying again before I felt it was ready. Within hours, it had been copied and ported to another framework by pointing an agent at my code. Of course, it’s open source. They were allowed to do it. And I’ve been around long enough, with multiple successful products, that I don’t care. But what if this was someone’s first product? What if they spent months building it, launched on Friday, and by Monday it had been cloned by agents, repackaged, and made free? What happens when your second product is copied? Your fifth? Your tenth? What happens when every new idea immediately becomes the next prompt? What happens when your roadmap, your changelog, and your launch announcements become someone else input prompts? What happens when models become good enough to copy bigger ideas? What happens when “just execute better” stops being the answer? What happens when “just build bigger” or “think wider” stops being enough? What happens when both ideas and execution become cheap? What happens when the creator pays the full cost of creativity but everyone else pays nothing to reproduce it? What happens to creativity when AI makes copying effectively free? What happens to the will to create when AI makes copying effectively free? Look, copying is not new. Copying at this speed, cost, and scale is. People will tell you to think bigger. But nobody starts "bigger". Every one of us here started by making something small. You keep going because, somewhere along the way, the work is rewarded. Maybe people use it. Maybe they pay for it. Maybe they simply recognize the thought, effort, and care that went into it. Copying once demanded effort. You had to study the work and understand it to copy it. That effort created appreciation for the person who made it. Not anymore. Creativity begins with small steps. If we make those first steps feel pointless, we don’t just lose small products. We lose the people who might have gone on to build the big ones. We are uniquely positioned here. We get to use and experience this life-changing technology before almost everyone else. How we use it will set the default everywhere else. That default will spread to writing, design, music, research, and every other field where someone still has to take the first creative risk. We can use AI to build great things. Or we can use it to strip every new idea for parts. We decide.

Hey, has anyone here created a set of visuals for diagrams.net to visualise their Xano (especially in cases when it's just a part of a BE architecture)?

Am I going insane or it's just an average day? Hand writing a function in Xano, directing an Agent on a python GCR codebase, listening to Linkin Park and chatting with a friend in Hungarian.. Switching languages and context feels exhausting, but sometimes it just works...

Open source isn't dying because of AI. It's dying because we all fucking suck. Users. Maintainers. The whole ecosystem. All of us. We fucking suck as users. We use OSS to do our jobs. To build products. To make money. Our employers depend on it. Our startups run on it. But the second a maintainer mentions compensation? We lose our fucking minds. "It should be free." "That's not the open source way." Meanwhile we're extracting value from someone's unpaid labor every single day. We file issues like we paid for a support contract. We demand timelines. We get snippy when our bug isn't the priority. We're not customers. We're guests. Start acting like it. We fucking suck as maintainers. We wanted the GitHub stars. The conference talks. The Twitter followers. We wanted to be the person who "owns" that thing everyone depends on. But now people actually depend on it and we're annoyed. "Talk is cheap, show me the code." So someone does. They spend hours on a PR. We ignore it for months. Close it with no explanation. Or we screenshot their issue and mock them publicly for not reading our minds about what we actually wanted. We invited contributions then punished people for contributing. We don't want to maintain projects. We want to be admired for maintaining them. Not the same thing. We suck at this together. Both sides want the benefits without the responsibilities. As users we want free, maintained, high quality software but won't contribute a damn thing. Not money. Not code. Not even basic respect. As maintainers we want the status of running critical infrastructure but won't communicate, won't collaborate, won't treat people like humans. We all know this shit doesn't work. And yet here we are. Okay Josh, what do you suggest then? If we use OSS and profit from it, we contribute something. Anything. Money, docs, triage, kindness. We stop expecting infinite free labor. If we maintain OSS and we're burnt out, we say so. Archive it. Hand it off. Ghosting is worse than walking away. And if we can't treat each other with basic respect? We don't get to participate. Full stop. Open source runs on people. On us. None of us owe each other a god damn thing. But we could choose to stop being assholes and do better anyway.

With a few tweaks to the “manual” instructions got this working on my blog as well blog.calycode.com. It’s a nice little addition. 😇

I just gained 5k+ followers in 2 hours 😅 And before you say congrats… I'm pretty sure this is some bot activity Earlier today I joked: "What kind of crazy thing could I do to hit 5k followers before the end of the year?" I didn't really mean this 💀 @nikitabier I'd really appreciate some help 🙏

Wait, so it’s a browser extension that makes AI write a (temporary) content script? This is really cool!
I shipped a feature to @posthog this week, except I don’t work at posthog and posthog didn’t approve it
