Pretty happy how this animation panel turned out. Made me really think about what parameters most people tweak and other states that could be animated.
I feel that manually designing helps me answer core design questions and gets me thinking about state / any potential edge cases.
Anyways, some early exploration for the animation tool. Gonna be working on updating the component library and note component this month too.
A lot has happened since I took a break to do a technology purge and travel. We’re back on the grind now and I’m cooking up a tool that I think would improve the current work flow for animating ui components :)
I kinda want to get into motion design and 3D again. I’m not sure how 3D and software mix but i think this would be for the fun of creating rather than tryna get a career in it.
Late night thoughts:
Tried vibe coding and it’s p crazy. It’s nice to understand code output and able to tweak it to my liking.
Happy with the time I put in the past few months learning to code through pairing with ai instead of vibing right away.
I’m starting to think there are places for it like majority of the use case is getting you 80% of the way there then you tweak the remaining 20%.
There are some places where I still want to know every single line of code being pushed. Even with vibing I still read the code.
Currently trying to recreate sonner for my component library and the attention to detail that went into this component is insane
I’ve been fighting a lot of bugs after syncing clerk and convex together for my productivity suite I’m making.
In order to avoid burn out, been switching back and forth between this, my component library, and experimental components for my lab.
Trying to replicate obsidian and notion’s text editors and it’s amazing how much goes into the block based architecture. I’m actually dumbfounded how they came up with these ideas to make it feel like a doc based editor.
Depending on time, may switch to tip tap or lexical
Got convex working, addressed some race conditions, and tried my best making this text editor that's similar to Notion. I ran into some complications trying a block based editor instead of using the standard area when it comes to partially selecting text.
I think diving into this feature made me see the benefit of having AI pair program with me. I would have never thought of some of the suggestions it gave me and I got to learn a lot of concepts faster. Reps definitely feel like they're the key as I'm starting to see patterns
Been a bit quiet for awhile here's an update on the notebook app I've been working on ! I gotta clean up some of the functions and add more keyboard shortcuts but to the text editor functionality next! Really happy how this is progressing so far.
