Secretary Buttigieg: "I'm thinking of dinner time at our house in Michigan, when the dog is barking and the air fryer is beeping and the mac and cheese is boiling over and it feels like all the political negotiating experience in the world is not enough for me to get our three year old son and our three year old daughter to just wash their hands and sit at the table. It's the part of our day when politics seems the most distant, and yet the makeup of our kitchen table, the existence of my family, is just one example of something that was literally impossible as recently as 25 years ago.
…
I don't presume to know what it's like in your kitchen, but I know as sure as I am standing here, that everything in it, the bills you pay at that table, the shape of the family that sits there, the fears and the dreams that you talk about late into the night there, all of it compels us to demand more from our politics than a rerun of some TV wrestling deathmatch."
How about they do some actual mental labour - look around and figure out what needs doing. It’s not women’s job to assign chores

*Tip for women.
Most of us men really want to help but don’t know how.
Give us lists!
Give us list items weekly we can take off your plate & we love to help!
Guys, ask her what can I take off your plate today?
The key is solid communication around this.

Can we please remember that:
a) Scotland is legally obliged to balance its budget and
b) It can never know what that will be until it learns what
pocket money is coming from Westminster (AKA the block grant.)

This is absolutely shocking.
That the council made such decisions without knowledge of the full impact, especially on equalities, is a gross dereliction of responsibility to children, young people, teachers and school staff across the city.

@NASUWT_Scotland accuses Glasgow City Council of 'failing pupils, parents and teachers' with planned cuts to teaching posts in city schools. An FOI response has confirmed no risk assessment or EQIA has yet been completed.

A reminder that, as a Government Minister, Robert Jenrick ordered the Home Office to paint over cartoon murals at a centre for unaccompanied children seeking asylum.
The dehumanisation of migrants doesn't happen in a vacuum.
Own it, and apologise for the part you have played.

It's not really about immigration; I'm an immigrant to the UK, but I'm a white western European and therefore I'm never deemed a threat by them. No, they're just racist white supremacists harassing anyone who isn't white, whether they were born in the UK or not.

We should have an open and honest debate about the fracturing of our communities as a result of Nigel Farage.

Nigel Farage has called for “more honest debate” about the “fracturing of our communities as a result of mass immigration”

Don't love this phrase 'anti-immigration protestors' used on the BBC just now. They're not really anti-immigration. It's not like they're targeting Canadians. They're racists. And these are not protests. They're attempted pogroms.

I have no strong feelings about who Kamala picks for VP except to say that in a group of five men there is close to a 100% chance that at least one of them has a career- and potentially campaign-ending skeleton in their closet and I can only hope that they have the good sense to tell the Harris campaign about it before any decisions are made.

They have no legitimate concerns. They're trying to start a race war. They're doing the nazi salute. They're trying to set asylum seekers on fire. And people like this, who prevaricate and whisper justifications, should never be forgiven.
