This is certainly interesting...
JavaScript can be inlined directly in Mint (using back ticks), making it easy to access Web APIs and other JavaScript libraries. Check out it's reference page:

Mint is a special language for web components.
I especially like the styles API (the lack of a unified styling system in React is a huge pain for the industry).
It’s a pity that the frontend is stuck in conservatism and everyone is afraid of everything.

The language is robust, simple, typed, easy to debug and it it’s a all in one kit :
- State management.
- Routing
- Component-level styling
- Developement server, etc.
Are all included.
It’s a killer framework, really !

Developing a website using only front language is a good thing. I think it will come to a good place with new updates. #mint #webdev mint-lang.com

Do we need a new language for web development?
I'm not sure, but Mint sure looks compelling:

Written in Crystal, it is a super-fast language for writing single-page frontend components.
Mint handles styling, data management, routing & comes with its own tools.

Elm is still popular in small circles, but its ideas transcend its community: React & Redux for example.
At the same time it was extremely opinionated and it's generally a bad idea to bet against JavaScript in the Web.
@mint_lang and @imbajs look like cool successors though.
