Finally, reasonable dialogue on this website.
In the runup to the election, I was part of a group of Jewish Democrats in Michigan who had to make a choice. Passions were running high, arguments ensued, but at the end of the day, we decided to support @AbdulElSayed
The response on this platform was immediate, but in too many cases, it was filled with vile, Islamophobic responses. I was called a Nazi and (ironically), a Jew-hater.
So instead of lashing out, I invite you to watch this two-minute video posted by @peterdaou After watching it if you can't at least understand that Abdul is a smart, considerate human and not a terrorist, then I can't help you. But I hope you are open-minded enough to see what we see.
I'm glad this awful election is over, but I'm just as glad to embrace a better future with Abdul in the Senate.

I've been in politics for a quarter century. It's hard to express how staggering it is to see a conversation like this on corporate US media. The Morning Joe panel gobsmacked by the directness of @AbdulElSayed's points.

It’s hilarious that supporters of the current admin, including those in our tech circles expect El-Sayed to be respectful and partake in respectability politics when all their leaders have done is drag him and Islam for no reason.
Trump called him Muhammad and said he’d have to go through a metal detector.
Vance said he’s evil.
Ted Cruz said Muslims can’t go to heaven, imagine if you go to heaven and Osama bin Laden is there.
Disgusting rhetoric every single turn and you want El-Sayed to kiss the ring of the new establishment.
What standard and principles do you all follow? Insane.
Through this lens what does it say about Republicans that America voted for “Communists” over Republicans?
Reject this stupid rhetoric that voting for Democrats will destroy western civilization.
Western civilization just voted for no endless wars, no foreign interference, no open bigotry 🇺🇸

abdul el sayed and every muslim person around him has been called a radical islamic jihadist terrorist every single day by the entire political spectrum since he won the primary and i haven’t seen a single think piece or major media interview of an arab voter abt how this makes them feel. arab and muslim voters combined make up almost 4% of the electorate. jewish voters make up 1.4% & many of those jewish voters aren’t zionists or will let israel get in the way of preserving american democracy. so we’ve heard endlessly from a tiny group of potential spoiler voters who aren’t getting their way on a deeply unpopular issue- why?
If you're trying to understand why so many Michigan Jewish Democrats are defecting, I wrote in August about it. It's not, per se, about foreign policy. theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0…
This is genius, but a work around that shows an impending paradigm shift is upon us.

i’m convinced more than ever about this:
