Facebook just sacked, and blacklisted, all 260 content moderators at its office in Nairobi, Kenya. I've just signed the petition to call Mark Zuckerberg out and demand the sackings are reversed. Pls add your name too:

ICYMI: Our mental health systems are very reluctant to change, even in the face of evidence and pleas from clients. We must bear this in mind in context of #CAMHS reform. Until there is change in terms of power imbalances, true reform cannot occur.

"The PSI concurs ... that the current model of care, which holds the perception that all clinical responsibility rests with a single profession namely the Consultant Psychiatrist, is ‘outdated’, ‘unsustainable’ and out of line with international best practice."
The PSI welcomes the @MHCIreland report on #CAMHS & concerns expressed in the report including ‘the lack of clinical governance’.

How many reports and investigations will it take to tell us what we already know…children’s disability and mental health services in this country are not up to scratch. So many good professionals but the structures and investment in services are not adequate

BTW, I'm not saying other types of LE don't matter. But be honest and know your lane. Without more specificity, folks are taking up spaces that don't belong to them and allowing systems to use them to exclude more relevant - & often more marginalised & critical - voices.
In case it is not clear in my case, 🤠I’m a survivor of the psych industrial complex, of Catholic post colonial smothering. And of academic corruption or collusion and of the system I worked in on and off.

Until we do that, we'll keep seeing the term used as a tick-box exercise that provides cover for co-option and silencing.

I dedicated my PhD to Aaron’s memory. If you have not heard about his work or life please take a moment to take a look below, and consider the role of scientific publishers play in society.
Aaron Swartz would have been 36 today.
Aaron committed suicide after being sentenced to 35 years in prison by US authorities for transferring and sharing scientific articles from JSTOR.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Swartz was never convicted or sentenced to prison. After declining a plea bargain in which he'd serve six months in jail, he committed suicide before trial.
