This is so important to hear and to share. Yes, they’re tearing down norms, structures, and our democracy. But they don’t have the power they’re trying to make us think they do. Do not comply in advance. Stand up. Speak out. And definitely vote (blue.) facebook.com/share/v/14shtVh…

Dear republicans. Russian soldiers r*pe babies in front of their mothers and then kill them both. You good with lifting sanctions on them? As for the Epstein files. Remember the pee tapes we know Putin has? It’s SO much worse

OMG! Thank you #TheDiplomatS4 !!! Don't tell me serial television is dead. That was one hell of a season 4 and an incredible cliffhanger ending. thank you for all of it. (I know, crazy way to escape from the real news, but it is one of my few vices...) 🙃

She’s got a lot of problems
Katie Zacharia is now White House Press Secretary. Her husband, Tyler Zacharia, previously helped build Schulze Global Investments’ operation in North Korea, financing state-owned companies and mining expansion inside a country the U.S. government was already describing as a growing military threat. This happened while the U.S. intelligence community was sounding alarms. In February 2010, Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair told Congress that North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs posed a “serious threat” to security in East Asia, while also pointing to Pyongyang’s export of ballistic-missile technology and its assistance to Syria’s nuclear program. By early 2011, the U.S. assessment had become even more explicit. The State Department said President Obama had warned China that North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic-missile programs were “increasingly a direct threat to the security of the United States and our allies.” North Korea itself was hardly hiding its hostility. In 2010, Pyongyang threatened “unprecedented nuclear strikes”against those it accused of trying to overthrow the regime, and later threatened a “sacred war” based on its nuclear deterrent. Yet during this same period, Schulze Global was putting capital into North Korean state-owned enterprises. Its loans financed mining equipment and expansion, and the successful deals helped “open the doors” to officials in Taepung, an investment organization connected to the National Defense Commission and the United Front Department. That connection matters because U.N. experts examining North Korea’s centralized state-owned economy warned in 2011 that the prospect of investment revenue being diverted to illicit purposes was “extremely likely.” The National Defense Commission, meanwhile, sat at the center of North Korea’s military establishment. So this was not simply an American investor taking a risk in an unusual emerging market. It was investment activity inside a state-controlled economy whose leadership was threatening nuclear confrontation, whose military trained for conflict with U.S. forces, and whose nuclear and missile programs the American government was already calling an increasingly direct threat to the United States. Now Tyler Zacharia’s wife speaks for the White House. Why was investing in North Korean state-owned enterprises considered acceptable while U.S. intelligence community was warning that the regime posed a growing threat to Americans? How did Schulze Global assess the risk that money entering North Korea’s state controlled economy could strengthen the same government the United States was trying to contain? #NorthKorea #WhiteHouse

Some pretty insane details on Gillibrand here including: – Her comms director bought up to 30k of bitcoin and ether one week before Gillibrand announced a bill putting both under friendlier CFTC oversight. – Her chief of staff invoked the Senator's role as the DSCC’s top fundraiser while pushing other Dem aides to back her crypto-friendly legislation -Her 22-year-old son raised $30M for a startup that is backed by crypto investors, including a key Gillibrand donor. Gillibrand on staff trading crypto: “I could care less what they do with their money. This is not a nanny state.”
I asked Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand if it bothers her that her staff trades crypto while she works on legislation that benefits the industry. “This is not a nanny state,” she said. Profiled crypto’s favorite Democrat for @NYMag: nymag.com/intelligencer/arti…

Happy Birthday you wonderful woman!!!🥰
Happy autumnal birthday to Natalie Louise Maines! In the Chinese zodiac, her birth year makes her a wood tiger, which is fitting since she is the apotheosis of fearless firebrands and a recusant rebel with a risible repartee.

How is all of this - and her "performance" today not leading every newscast?
WH Press Secretary Katie Zacharia has deep ties to Communist China, working in Beijing for years at Chinese law firm Zhong Lun. Zhong Lun regularly acts as counsel for Chinese state agencies, state-owned enterprises, and cross-border transactions tied to Chinese government strategies like the Belt and Road Initiative.

Amazing to read MTG’s comments and see mostly supportive feedback. The destruction of bot farms by Ukraine has an immediate real world impact. Can the hate actually be bombed out of existence? 🤔

Why don’t we tax religious organizations? Seems like an enormous loss of revenue. And it would likely cut down significantly on evangelical mega-church nonsense. 🤔🤔🤔
