Read to your kids. First night home from the hospital and every day until they can read to you, and then read more. Read Goodnight Moon and Old Yeller and Flyguy and Magic Treehouse and Harry Potter and Berenstain Bears and the Bible and biographies of heroes and more.
Fair winds and following seas, Captain. 😢

We need baseball on the radio so we don’t have to watch games with inappropriate advertising and we can listen to “out of market” games that are blocked on television and so we can have on the broadcast to override in-game interviews by Ken Rosenthal.
For starters.
Replying to @DavidPSamson
@DavidPSamson says MLB no longer needs radio: "We don't need baseball on radio anymore." The former Marlins president predicts on Nothing Personal that "radio will go the way of Kodak and Blockbuster." @JohnMamola has more. #MLB

What I like about this #WorldSeries is the ball being put in play. There have been big hits but it’s mostly, get the ball in play. Good stuff.

To better understand Bob Uecker’s significance to Brewers baseball, he called both Hank Aaron’s last MLB home run and Jackson Churio’s first.

The great thing is we will get past next week, sit a new Congress, watch them do next to nothing and then starting in JUNE, the 2028 Prez campaign will kick off and it will be 17 months months of endless chatter, prediction markets, and campaigns.
Will never end.

@Rubio stood at the Acropolis and traced America's roots to ancient Athens.
Many of today's students wouldn't know how follow him: AP World History doesn't cover ancient Greece, and the ancient-world AP course the College Board promised in 2019 never launched.
A century ago, schools swapped history for "social studies" and taught kids to analyze greatness instead of aspire to it.
Here's my latest, at @RealClearEd.

There are many legit uses for AI but the sloppy, copycat-looking political ads (video or otherwise) really should not be one of them. Use your skills, people, or if you don’t have them, please just stop.

Bret Saberhagen was 21 years old when he shut out the Cardinals in Game 7 of the 1985 World Series. He'd won the Cy Young that year too, going 20 and 6. Four years later he went 23 and 6 with a 2.16 ERA and won it again.
In Kansas City his best seasons kept landing in odd numbered years, 1985, 1987, 1989 and 1991, and nobody ever really explained why. He's fourth among Royals here.
Who's first among Royals for you?
Our high school theater classes put on “You Can’t Take It With You” and having seen it I now need to rewatch the Capra movie and the padawan wants to watch too so what I’m saying is, protect fine arts funding and thank me later.
The year before, at the All-Star Game in KC, commentators were tolling the bell for the Royals. Then this happened, this improbable, beautiful run.
I still get chills.
The 2014 Royals' Wild Card Game comeback ended with Salvador Perez delivering the walk-off hit. Kansas City had waited years just to get back to October, and the postseason run that followed had to survive this game first.
That's what makes the clip more than one walk-off. It became the opening scene of a Royals run that fans had been waiting decades to experience.
