sorry to bother you @Mishbia15 but I was wondering if I could interest you in a 24-year old triple-double machine to set things right for your 1-3 Suns?

I don’t know if he’s a 3 or 4, and I mean that as a compliment.

This is bad defense. He’s also not being put in positions to succeed defensively because the roster issues are forcing him into guarding situations he never should. Asking him to chase shooters off screens is trouble.

Matas has a long, long, long way to go as a perimeter defender…..

This was always going to happen. Any dummy (me) with a twitter account said as much prior to the season. A very obvious thing that is obviously playing out. Shocking development!

They pickup him up full court because they DONT respect him. Put pressure on him and his loose handle is exposed, leading to turnovers.

*Defenses don't respect Josh Giddey* Yeah thats why Derrick White was picking him up full court....

Several possessions which perfectly highlight both players’ weakest tendencies

One of the worst 45 seconds of Bulls basketball in recent memory. Giddey turnover, Matas gets put on the floor and gives up an o board putback to Pritchard. Giddey throws it away again, Pritchard three. Mazzulla is so pumped he hugs Pritchard after Tiago calls a time out.

I haven’t seen a good player comp for Caleb because I don’t think there is a good one, and I mean this entirely as a compliment.

Caleb Wilson is untouchable. Can the same be said for Noa Essengue?

If Matas isn’t scoring, what is he doing? The defense has never been good on-ball, and his scheme defense only sings on weakside blocks. He’s not a strong rebounder. He has as many turnovers as assists through 161 career games. The book isn’t written, but not encouraging.

I’m not out on Matas. He is talented and there is scope for more. But at the same time, maligned players like Zach LaVine — who did little else than score — weren’t enough for some, for good reason. Are we sure Matas is on a higher trajectory than LaVine?

Probability suggests you shouldn’t overreact with most rookies / young players. But then you have guys like Caleb, who has flashed star-like qualities in 3.5 games than others have had in full months of samples, and that’s when you start letting your mind wander…

Injuries are why we shouldn’t assume dynasties will just happen. Presti and OKC have done everything right but there’s no controlling this variable. Hopefully these guys are back healthy soon.

BREAKING: Oklahoma City's Jalen Williams has a dislocated left ankle and fractured fibula; Cason Wallace has a torn labrum in his left shoulder. Both will undergo surgery and be sidelined for several months -- most, if not the entire season.

Splitter: “I think we gotta understand, the NBA is gonna change now with the rules. Nobody is just playing guys, giving them minutes, and we’re gonna lose, we don’t care. You gotta win every game. That’s how you should be approaching. That’s gonna change how you develop players, because the importance of winning is greater.”

I wonder if @cbefred is going to give us some hard-hitting analysis on who was exceptionally bad on this defensive possession?
