A lot of ppl on here have a two-dimensional concept of political leverage, based purely on negative pressure. Leverage also comes from joining a coalition, making your group indispensable, building trust & problem-solving together, while pushing firmly.

I have regretfully become a Blake Lively truther. I don't like her but all evidence suggests she acted out of a genuine motivation to stop a sexual harasser from obtaining more power over other women in the film industry and has incurred a great deal of personal harm as a result
“Blake Lively being a mean girl” when it’s literally clips of Blake Lively that are either cherry-picked to make it seem like she’s mean or her actually setting necessary boundaries still without the proper context. Aren’t you guys tired of falling for a smear campaign from bots ? Twitter truly is a death trap full of misinformation, Racism and misogyny

The data to me says that if anything the issue of Israel is helpful to El-Sayed in Michigan. He does better among voters who say it's extremely impt to their vote than overall. Most Mich voters & indies want military aid ended or reduced to Israel. AIPAC is deeply unpopular.

I hate this condescending whataboutism. Yes Bret, if the interior minister of Japan was a right-wing religious zealot using US taxpayer money for ethnic cleansing, they would probably be better known.
NYT's Bret Stephens whines that Democrats know "Smotrich and Ben-Gvir" but not "the interior minister of Japan." Their "obsession" with Israel drives him "crazy." (Being politically informed on Israel is now anti-Semitic.)

I'll beat this dead horse until it comes back to life: not only do Jews and Muslims share status as tiny minorities in the US, but Judaism and Islam are far, far more similar to each other as religions than either is to Christianity.
MSU/YouGov: Only 11% of Jewish likely voters in Michigan hold a negative view towards Muslims. 34% of Michigan likely voters hold a negative view towards Muslims.

1) As should have been obvious: this debate itself (outcome aside) is affecting how ppl see DSA 2) If DSA national has no problem glibly, negatively impacting a race like this (affecting 4 million real ppl) why would any politician / potential member trust or desire involvement?

Jonathan there are Nazis in the White House
To describe Marc Chagall as anything other than a Jewish artist or to celebrate neighborhoods like Brighton Beach and Rego Park but not describe their Jewish character are just the latest examples of the Mayor's relentless, pathological campaign to erase Jews from the story. He does it so often that one has to assume that this is not ignorance or accidental, but a deliberate effort to normalize antisemitism and marginalize Jewish New Yorkers. It’s despicable.

Marist just released its final poll of Maine—& they're doubling down on their now-trademark gap between registered & likely voters. —Jackson leads Collins 49% to 47% among LVs. —He's up 53% to 44% among RVs. (Marist's poll 3 weeks ago had Jackson leading 51/47 among RVs.)

there were literal neonazis outside and you’re worried about the antizionist on stage. lock in unc.
As DFLers, we must condemn hateful rhetoric, no matter who says it. Shame on @IlhanMN for bringing Hasan Piker to MN and giving him a platform. You can’t stand for inclusion while excusing division. Our values should mean something, even when it’s politically inconvenient.

The GOP's most limited resource in this last week of the campaign is the time of their biggest surrogates. This tells you a lot about the state of the Senate map right now.
Trump’s heading back to Kansas for a rally in Salina on Saturday, per the RNC. That’ll be three Trump or Vance rallies in Kansas over 13 days.

NAACP president about the rhetoric being used to target Abdul El-Sayed: "The blatantly racist attacks surrounding the Michigan Senate race are unacceptable and disgusting. It’s the same ugly, divisive tactics we’ve seen used during the darkest chapters of the South’s history"

Bring it to a vote, @JulieMenin — or you're standing with billionaires over workers.
Since its reintroduction in April, the Delivery Protection Act has supermajority support in the New York City Council. Mayor Zohran Mamdani has committed to signing this critical legislation once passed. The only thing preventing New York City from making labor history? Council Speaker Julie Menin, who has failed to schedule this landmark bill for a vote. Speaker Menin, it’s time to choose: Do you stand with every day New Yorkers who support the DPA, or with Amazon and other companies who endanger workers and the communities they deliver to? Schedule the vote for the Delivery Protection Act and let the people of New York City have their say.

imagine having so much time on your hands you're doing stuff this stupid and pointless a week before election day
NEW: DSA's National Political Committee passed two resolutions tonight regarding Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman, setting up processes to potentially force DSA's Los Angeles chapter to rescind its endorsement of her campaign and/or expel her from DSA. Here are copies of the 2 resolutions that passed: Rescinding endorsement: docs.google.com/document/d/1… Expulsion: docs.google.com/document/d/1…

to be clear, I think it's legitimate to ask an elected to support a particular policy, and BDS in particular; I think demanding a meeting ONE WEEK BEFORE ELECTION DAY when the elected in question is running for mayor of LA makes you look like childish idiots (if the shoe fits...)
