Ghanaians made sacrifices to get our economy back on its feet.
Now, that recovery must mean decent jobs for our young people, better incomes for our farmers and room for Ghanaian businesses to grow and hire.
Next week, I will show how the New Economy will turn the gains we have made together into jobs and prosperity for all.

Inflation measures how quickly prices rise.
Ghana’s rate has fallen from 40.4% in October 2022 to 5.5% in October 2026.
For our compatriots, this means less pressure on household budgets, making it easier to plan everyday spending.

Four key messages from the GRA statement:
1. No new tax is being introduced: The digital VAT collection system is only meant to improve collection of taxes already required by law.
2. There is no additional 20% tax: The effective rate remains 20%, made up of 15% VAT, 2.5% NHIL and 2.5% GETFund Levy.
3. Consumers already paying VAT should not be charged again: Where VAT is already included in subscription prices, the system should not lead to duplicate taxation.
4. The system targets compliance and transparency: GRA says the platform will help bring non-compliant digital service providers into the tax net, improve accountability, and ensure taxes due to the State are properly collected.
