i know what its like to get doors slammed shut in my face. i know what its like to hit rock bottom and feel like you will never make it out. don't ever give up. dont ever stop. keep on trying. the path to your dream might not be the path you envisioned but you can make your own.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman thinks it's "terrible" for people to have RAM in their computers rather than in a data center, as the scarcity of memory caused by the AI boom continues to drive up costs. bit.ly/47LJ09d

Replying to @SandyofCthulhu
Hi Sandy. Are you well? This is wrong. On January 1, 1993, we sent a press release saying that multiplayer would be in DOOM, a full 8 months before you joined the company. We knew deathmatch would be huge. In that press release, in January 1993, we said multiplayer would be "the number one cause of decreased productivity in businesses around the world." We were sure of it, and we needed no convincing. I understand you are proud of your work on DOOM, and you should be, but please also respect the accuracy of your statements, particularly around game history. My concern is that these false statements are designed to trigger replies (like this one), reposts, and outrage discussion, all with the view of increasing your followers and subscriptions, particularly since this false deathmatch story (among others) is so easily disproved. I’ve even welcomed you to reach out to me ahead of time. You seem to appreciate game history as much as I do. Could you not also make yours accurate?

Incredibly thankful to Kotaku and Ash for talking to me about this. I love Jackbox, and I'm really hurt they'd do something like this.

with 12 days until the midterm elections, the entire republican party has coalesced around attacking a woman for having been raped by her stepfather when she was twelve
Trump: "Vivek Ramaswamy put up a very powerful Ad about a mother saying that her daughter, Amy Acton, who is running for Governor of Ohio, is a liar, and much worse. The Press, in a concerted and well coordinated attack, is trying to get Vivek Ramaswamy to 'take down the Ad.' Frankly, anybody whose mother spoke about a daughter in that way would normally lead to the daughter being precluded from serving in Office"

What a disrespectful, stuck-up worldview. You're uniquely unable to make art for nuanced reasons I simply couldn't POSSIBLY understand.
You think I was born good at art? Like I didn't spend years failing over and over, dealing with my own issues? Here's a picture of me when I was four, drawing. And my art was shit. But I kept drawing for years. I got in trouble for drawing during class, or doodling on my schoolwork.
I started 3D modeling in middle school, on a computer that could hardly even open blender. I started making games before I even knew what textures were, or materials, or shaders. I made shitty, broken games and I got made fun of by people that I looked up to. Countless failed or abandoned projects. There were PLENTY of times I was angry about not being able to draw or model as well as I wanted to.
The difference is I'm not a quitter. I didn't blame artists, or socialists, or my mental issues. I just kept making art, and now I'm good at it. It's that easy. You are not owed skill just because you feel like you deserve it. You have to work for it, which kind of seems like something you'd support given your (correct me if I'm wrong) general right-wing political leanings.
And yes, sometimes that means pushing through years of being bad at something until you're goated with the sauce. Again, I don't mean to disrespect you personally. But I think if you genuinely felt so passionate about your ideas that you describe it as having art in your soul that needs to get out, you'd just make art. Even if it was bad. The quality would not matter. And I am tired of AI users just offloading blame on to artists and other random factors instead of just admitting they use AI because it's easier than learning art.
